what were the 1st n 2nd videos that it played during its launch?

 

First one was "Video killed the radio star" by the Buggles...I think.

The second one? I don't know. But nobody ever remembers second place anyway.

 

Got to meet Geoff Downes from Buggles/ Asia fame recently. Great chap.

I recall a few people in college who minored in MTV.

I can still vividly remember watching MTV that first month it launched in August, 1981. I also remember Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes" was a huge hit at the time and they gave that a fair amount of air play.
