What is this argument about anyway ?

LW took 10k to a milllion in 1987. In the same time he lost big with OPM. All this does is reinforce the known fact that it is easy to make mind blowing % returns on small accounts in futures but it is not scalable to larger accounts.

TO MY CRITICS I SAY THIS...
Since 1973 have been willing to trade head-on head against any commodity trader anytime, any place. I've done this in trading championships, I've challenged people who claimed to be the greatest traders of the world be the here in America, or Germany, or Australia and I stand by that.

If you think I am a washed up old man... then take me on trade against me... let's see who's good and who's not. The proof is in the pudding, and I'm willing to cook up my batch anytime any place. Let's get it on...man to man, one on one. I think that would go a lot further to demolishing Larry Williams, showing my true colors, than all these comments based on rumor and innuendo,

Thunderdog trades ES, maybe he should take him up on his offer.

  3. "Thunderdog trades ES, maybe he should take him up on his offer."

You guys lay off the Dog especially since he is a fellow ES trader. Bet, unlike most or nearly all here, he does well besides.

I lived in Rancho SanteFe CA area in the 80's where Larry Williams lived as well. He LOST all his money the next year. We used to joke we thought we saw him caddying on a local course to get a stake to try again. His daughter is gorgeous! So is the wife!

  4. It is just not worth it. As I have shown on page 24 of this thread, marketsurfer is intellectually dishonest. (First he questions the existence of a document and then he alludes to the notion that he has read it.) Shame on him. He and people like him seem to believe that obfuscating and being obtuse passes for meaningful dialogue. I am not foolish enough to believe that everyone should agree with me. However, it is quite disappointing when, after the telephone calls that I made and the considerable effort I put in on pages 22 and 23 of this thread, the people who do disagree offer only shallow, mindless pap. What a stupid waste of my time. Lesson learned.

I for one appreciate the effort you put into your posts here and elsewhere. I knew next to nothing about Larry Williams and it's always interesting (and educational) to hear details about how well-known traders gained their reps, good or bad.

    Thanks, TD. :)

  6. Thanks for the support, kut2k2 and takenoprisoners. Much appreciated.

It is rather difficult for me to conceal my contempt for people who equate bickering with debate (or even dialogue). And it is frustrating when people argue with a post of mine that they have not even bothered to take the time to actually read, let alone understand.

After avoiding it for so long, the ignore feature will finally serve a meaningful and therapeutic purpose for me. I should have thought of it much sooner. Whereas I previously regarded it as a cop out, I now equate it to a filter in a trading strategy that eliminates meaningless and troublesome noise. As with anything, I suppose it is just a matter of putting it in the right context.

  7. Assumptions in the foregoing assertion:

1). He was trading the same contracts in contest as OPM
2). He was trading the same system in contest as OPM
3). He employed the same money management allocation in contest as OPM

Case not closed volente, unless you have some information to back up your assumptions ergo your assertion.

Please show me where I made the assumptions that you are referring to.

Thunderdog has his panties in a wad because apparently LW sacrificed his OPM fund in order to take 10k to 1 mill in a year. I do not deny what the facts seems to show. I do not recall the subject of larry's seminars being"How to trade OPM". I just find it quite amusing that on ET, you are attacked if you are worth a damn at trading.

  10. When you assert that IT is not scaleable to larger accounts,
the IT refers to the sum total of strategy, markets traded and money management used to grow 10K to 1Mil. You assumed that LW used IT to trade OPM and that IT failed on a larger amount of trading capital. I dont believe it has been adequately demonstrated that LW used IT for both his highly adventureous trading contest and ordinary OPM management business.

BTW since this is not a face to face exchange, you may not realize that I am not attacking you. I would hope to convey a sense of debate and not one of simply flaming your posts..
