  1. I do some pretty intensive derivatives calculations in Excel, and I was wondering if anybody knew of anything in the works for a multiprocessor version of Excel?

Excel is a useful tool. A better tool IMHO is Mathematica. I can do much more impressive derivative calculations using this tool - actually entire models. It is also an excellent technical analysis tool - using our proprietary developed tools.

By the way keep in mind that an MBA or PHD is just a piece of paper. In the end its your own ingenuity that counts. With success you will make the necessary connections ....

    very very true!

By the way, I am also doing a lot of calculations with excel and its inbuild Visual Basic. If you use VB you can speed up your code by using the native Excel functions with Application.Worksheetfunction
