Moving Forward: Your Opinion of ET

Discussion in 'Feedback' started by Baron, Aug 21, 2013.

How Should ET Move Foward from here?

  1. ET needs to implement lots of new features, like Facebook, LinkedIn and other social sites.

  2. ET should incrementally add new features based solely on user feedback.

  3. ET should get rid of features like Books/Brokers/Software Ratings and stick to forums only.

  4. ET has been great for the last 15 years just like it is and should be left alone.

  1. I'm sure looking forward to the new moderation system. I think it will help keep a lot of riff raff from derailing certain threads and will allow those threads to develop properly. In recent years a few individuals seemed intent on stunting the growth of potentially informative threads. I see this new idea as a way of keeping those hooligans at bay, especially the ones whose sole purpose is to disagree with anyone who uses anything that resembles TA.

ET will soon be liberated. It will be fun.

  2. Baron listed the reasons why "self moderation" will not only fail, it will bring ET down with it. If you would like, I would be happy to reprint these ideas here, but I am sure you have read them. There is no need for a new moderation system-- just stronger enforcement of the ET rules and regulations.

I know there are several weak minded strivers here who can't stand to have dissenting opinions on their kumbyya threads of self love and delusions--- surely this isn't you, RR. Self moderation of threads will never happen as its a logically flawed idea. Leader Baron has attested to this fact--- sorry, you are not going to get the "power" to delete posts on you thread. Just report the ones that violate the TOS to the mods. It will be deleted if warranted. surf

  3. Of course it's not me. Of the two of us, you are the one who put me on ignore a few days ago because you couldn't handle a dissenting opinion. I see you have since taken me off ignore because you realized the hypocrisy of calling people weak minded when you, yourself, were displaying that very same behavior. Kudo's for coming to that realization on your own.

Baron is going to do what Baron is going to do and, as of most recently, he said he would implement a new moderation structure. "I am cool with it and will implement it. End of story."

  4. Yes, you can currently PERSONALIZE et by ignoring or removing from ignore. However, others can still read that persons posts. If the mob of thread starters are provided this power, Elite will collapse as a worthles kumbyya type site. surf

  5. Sorry for the delayed response, the market got very active and system generated a few trades. Good stuff!

Anyways, to get back to this topic, if a poster becomes known for having a trigger finger in banning people, that's going to work to his/her disadvantage too. So even if people are given more power, it's not necessarily going to work for them. I'm thinking the real successful threads will have a fair moderator who will allow civil disagreement.

But why don't we let the site experiment with what it is going to do and then reserve real judgment when we see the results.

  6. No, things don't work this way in real life. Most everyone of value will quit the site as troll and VENDOR type thread starters will ban them from disagreeing. Overtime these trolls will TAKE OVER THE SITE. turning it into a KUMBYYA campfire sing along that they so desperately want. In addition, posts of ALL TYPES are the lifeblood of this site-- when nearly any "site legal" post is deleted it hurts the sites metrics thus its value for possible investors, purchasers and users. What you are suggestion is doomed to fail-- just read the many jokers who support this idea's posts-- you will quickly see the absurdity of the suggestion.

Clearly those who want "less posts" dont care about the site itself but would rather create their own world here. That's not what this is all about. Only the thin skinned weak ones who left due to what they percieve as hostile posts may come back. We certainly don't need these types here. Truly succesful traders, who are succesful TODAY, are no bothered by challenges, only the losers are.

regarding experimentation, the same reason that you don't try to fly to the moon in your car, is the reason that experimentation is futile and very stupid. read Barons reasons to never allow self moderation--- and you will find your answer why experimentation is a bad move

In addition, the ignore button is available to all. Why don;t they use it?

  8. Eh, your arguments don't provide a compelling enough reason to scrap the new idea IMO. We'll see how it goes during the beta phase. I'm confident that, if there are any kinks, they will be worked out and the site will improve. I could be wrong, but we'll see. At least one of us can admit that.

P.S Please learn how to spell "kumbaya". Thanks.

  9. It's not going to happen.

You really have the nerve to challenge Baron's well reasoned response on why self moderation is a very very dangerous idea. What is your motivation other than to destroy ET via turning the reigns over to overzealous, phoney thin skinned vendor types and malcontents who desire kumbaya type interaction??

Maybe you should start your own site, that way you can let the mob rule anyway you like.

I'm kinda looking forward to this new OP moderator thingy.

I think I'll start a thread on the wonderful wonders of TA, just so I can delete smurfs posts in it.

    I bet his head explodes.
