Glad you've learnt a new word today. Will bring more, over time. I'll consider it a compliment instead of an unoriginal thought.
He does drive people away. he just doesn't get it. A lot of guys like myself who have been in the trading biz a long time (no Surf, I am not bragging or tooting my own horn, I have just worked very hard to stay in the business for 20 yrs) just don't have the time nor patience to deal with idiots like his persona on here and guys like that EMG dope. So we leave. Outside of my banter with Surf yrs ago I did post a lot of useful info...some hilarious stories....and was able to help and point some new traders in the right direction. I was just one...there were plenty of others who did much more than me who finally had enough of the bullshit on here and left. While there are still some very cool guys with a ton to offer still here (my hat goes off to them for patience), a majority have left and the content has nosedived last few years. Baron WILL attract the right kind of guys back on here by doing this. Real traders will be interested in conversing on here once guys like Surf's persona are blocked out of spewing their useless bullshit.
I can't friggin believe I am going to do this.... So Surf.....what is the most important criteria for a successful trader? What is it that separates the good from the bad. There is one HUGE difference. I know the answer. Have seen exactly what separates them. What's your take. As far as the prop firms? Unfortunately the days of prop firms bringing in guys, backing them with small accounts initially and teaching them are basically gone. Too bad as that was the way to go. Now a days prop firms want guys to put up peanuts (5k) and learn strategies that really don't work any more. All that happens is these new guys churn the 5k out in commissions to the firm. Then are told "you are getting it....reload another 5k". I have heard about this a lot over the years. The other thing which is going on, which is pathetic is the firms that will back new guys and have them trade odd lots. I have heard of firms now having guys trade 10-20 share positions. I have always thought it's illegal to do that but I guess they put them under a retail umbrella to get away with it. So to say "just go to a prop firm and lean"....well....it's not like there are many decent places to go do this anymore.
Not for nothing Surf, if you have made enough money to do what you want , why have you come on here using this site as your personal EBAY/AMZN and try and sell things. A lot of which were complete crap? You aren't a trader and have been more of a money raiser/writer. So why do you think you have the credibility to warn new traders about the evils out there ?
Surf -- You should really reinvent your "Marketsurfer persona". By your own choice you are not an anonymous poster. Do you really for a minute think that what you say and do here at ET doesn't have an impact on your real world professional life? I don't mean that as in a "positive impact". Quite the contrary. Maybe you really are a nice guy. Why don't you let it show? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d55HohHua8I
Interesting. I did not know about Surf's competing site and how it flamed out. His whole "persona" could be that he wants to destroy this place (since he lost out trying to compete with Baron). Kind of makes sense. He comes on here saying ET has been the best thing in his life, but in reality he wants to destroy it out of jealousy. So he clogs the place up with bullshit threads selling crap, and then goes on an insane crusade trying to piss off 95% of the people here causing the place to die out slowly. In a crazy way this kinda makes sense.
You know, just doing some Googling for "David goodboy market surfer" brings back all sorts of fascinating stuff. Dave, you've had a very interesting career, I'll give you that. But looking at the connections you've made over the years, and how low you're prepared to go to make money (ie i think you'd sell someone out in a heartbeat), it makes me think ET is the wrong place for you, and question your real reasons for being here. I'll be giving nothing that you can sell, that's for sure. I hate this shit. Is there any part of life that isn't corrupted by users and abusers???
This is mostly bull sh@t. I'm not disputing eprados value add or history. He's a skilled trader I have been told. But how weak are these folks driven away by opposing points of view? They are so weak they demand mod capabilities to control what they see. There's something called the ignore button to personalize your view of the site. Why the weak ones want more power is clear. Bunch of weak cry babies. Prado is mostly worried about his 50$ that I just about have surf
Surf, the ignore button does not stop people from destroying good threads. If I am on a thread, and although I have the jackass on ignore, that person can still post all over the place ruining it. He will derail it to a point that all good conversation ends. You can't argue this fact. At the end of the day why the hell does this bother you so much? You can still have your Surf alerts...sell shit...even start ridiculous anti TA thread. That will not change. The difference is you won't be able to pollute threads with your bullshit drivel. You know the outcome of this. Ergo....why you are flipping out. You will end up not being able to participate with your train wreck agenda in the more solid trading threads around here.
There's a classified section to sell stuff. What's wrong with selling or buying? Ask Scataphagos and TJ Winston. I have bought tons of computer equipment from those guys__ it's not just selling I do. So what? Yes, I trade my own account and have traded prop plus a hedge fund in the past. Yes, I'm more of a marketing guy than trader. But all the experience makes me better at both. Peace. surf
