Moving Forward: Your Opinion of ET

Discussion in 'Feedback' started by Baron, Aug 21, 2013.

How Should ET Move Foward from here?

  1. ET needs to implement lots of new features, like Facebook, LinkedIn and other social sites.

  2. ET should incrementally add new features based solely on user feedback.

  3. ET should get rid of features like Books/Brokers/Software Ratings and stick to forums only.

  4. ET has been great for the last 15 years just like it is and should be left alone.

Surfs going to have fun with what you have dug up there however being able to remove one person who for all intents and purposes is trying to derail your thread with useless and hostile contributions is not the same as being able to delete your own threads and the threads of others on a whim and roll around this site with the same powers as if you own the place.

Whats being talked of now and what was talked of back then are two different things.

What is sad is that if less than 5 people where banned -- no changes would be necessary.

Individuals desiring to build a content repository on a specific subject could do so without being harassed. In less time it would take to implement and test the proposed changes Baron could permanently ban Surf and a few other and delete every post they have made. Deleted posts could be replaced with a "Posted content was deleted due to repeated toxic posts" as a warning to other disrupted posters.

    Slowly ET might come back....

  3. Quote from Baron:

What message board allows moderating your own thread? I've never even seen that ability on any message board.

Furthermore, here are some of the reasons why such a feature won't be implemented:

    1. Every thread started will essentially have a different moderator, each with his own standard of what's acceptable and what isn't. You think the standards are all over the map with the handful of moderators we have now? Wait til' everybody is a moderator!

    2. The capability of mass post deletion, meaning that if a user has a popular thread and then later decides to leave the site for good because he blew out his trading account or whatever, he may decide to also delete his threads or the replies of others, which will leave a LOT of people very pissed off.

    3. Conflict of interest. I don't think you can have your own thread and be a very objective moderator at the same time. Some people are power hungry, egotistical, thin-skinned, etc., which makes them poorly suited to moderate the posts of other people.

These are my thoughts articulated by a very skilled writer. I don't know if the trolls have influenced Baron's original wisdom or potentially even hijacked his account. Only a scaredy cat, thin skin, losing trader would think differently. surf

  4. What is sader still is a poster with less than 650 posts of contributions thinks he/she has any say whatsoever on the future course of this site. While slackers contributions are solid until now, he isn't dedicated enough to even suggest changes. Stick with the 1000 post minimum to comment on this thread. surf

  8. Don't worry, I'm sure Baron can see all users edits and will absolutely know that Surf called him a moron.

  9. Not everyone, friend----just those whose ideas are threatened by my shining the light of reason on them. Show respect and you get it in return--- There are very few incidents of me attacking another poster--- read the evidence--- sure ill push against wrong ideas and methods--- that's what debate is all about. But some folks don't like holes poked n their financial faith. Therefore they attack and try to destroy the messenger.

By the way, I had one of the best burgers ever at a biker bar in new hope PA called Havanas Highly recommend if you ever get out of the city. The meat quality is fantastic

  10. You're right, I was incorrect to say "everyone". Most everyone would have been a better choice of words. :D

    Thanks for the burger reco
