Moving Forward: Your Opinion of ET

Discussion in 'Feedback' started by Baron, Aug 21, 2013.

How Should ET Move Foward from here?

  1. ET needs to implement lots of new features, like Facebook, LinkedIn and other social sites.

  2. ET should incrementally add new features based solely on user feedback.

  3. ET should get rid of features like Books/Brokers/Software Ratings and stick to forums only.

  4. ET has been great for the last 15 years just like it is and should be left alone.

The ignore feature would not stop you from polluting threads I read. You turn normal threads into train wrecks. Only way preventing threads from becoming train wrecks is removing the train wrecker.

Why are you so scared of this? Afraid nobody will converse with you :)

I don't want any power to quash opinions I disagree with. I want the power to squash annoying loudmouths who destroy threads. If you weren't so obnoxious/arrogant then it would be fine.

    Destroyed?
    Interesting choice of phrase!
For you, this is all about battling people.
People who do stuff you cannot.
    That's so unbelievably sad.
    Many would call that 'jealousy'.

Perhaps I can recommend some self-help books for you to read?

That exactly what you do, all the time.
With sweeping generalisations. Over and over and over.

Its interesting to see surf, that you're the only one scared of OP thread moderation.
    Everyone else welcomes it.

Far as I can see, the writings on the wall here.

Come on. You proclaimed I'm him. It's a great risk reward trade. If I win, you lose a buck. If I am him you will have 1000 bucks to spend at that burger place you love on the corner of Atlantic Ave/A1A.

You are so sure I'm him, take the bet.

Hopefully Baron considers the idea. It seems most agree it's a good idea. Maybe try it for a 3 month period and see the results. If it brings back more quality it's a go. If not can always change it back.

  6. Exactly, a beta phase to see how it goes. If it's a success, it stays. If not, then back to the drawing board. Seems like it's worth a shot. Although I like Jack Larkin's idea concerning the ignore list of the OP being the deciding factor (and, of course, that ignore list is allowed to grow if the OP so chooses).

Exactly......no harm no foul. Try it for a testing period. 3 months.

While using the ignore list of the OP makes complete sense, if that was considered too harsh, or the OP wanted to give the ignored another chance it could be done on a thread by thread basis.

It's a win-win situation. Would have real trading threads that would grow that would draw in some old guys back here as well as some new real traders. That would probably attract more sponsors on here....more money for Baron.

  8. You're right, it may be too harsh. I proposed a 3 strikes and you're out idea, giving ANY poster a couple opportunities to piss the OP off :D

  9. The fact that Baron asks, then even reviews our comments, speaks volumes. This site rocks!

Even better....give the poster on option on his account page.

"Ban ignored members from your threads ?"

    Yes
    No

Then also give the OP the option to ban someone on his actual thread if he is willing to give ignored people a chance.

That way if someone is beyond annoying all the time they can be blanket banned. I mean, nobody on here fits that criteria :)
