Forget who was saying it earlier in this thread, thought it was you, haha, but once you get better at trendlines and reading candlesticks, doesn't that tell you alot of what you'd get from MAs?
wasn't me. Does the overnight gap on intraday stock charts present any challenges / opportunities at this point? What would a current chart look like these days? btw you might like this. cued....
My bad, long day, I haven't tried Bollinger bands at all yet. I'll give this a looksee after the baseball. Do you ever use MACD or OBV? Kinda intriguing.
overnight gap, stock price eod close price vs 9:30 open price, can distort indicators at the start of a 5m intraday stock chart that has gapped. These gaps can be good for price action trading. https://elitetrader.com/et/threads/...sqqq-sdow-tza-uvxy.351318/page-2#post-5227451 though, as well the gaps in price can walk away from MAs for some duration depending on length of MA.
Gotcha. So how do you play those? So far all I've heard with gaps is to expect continuation in that direction, but that was in relation to news catalysts with penny stocks. Is that idea true across the board?
%% THAT may work well in an uptrending bull market; on penny stocks- I have no idea. ANY large gap may fail + sorry, moving averages as helpful as they may be /will not help on that…………………………………………………………………………...
Makes sense. I'm still at that beginner stage where I'm trying to learn all the general rules of thumb, before I start to learn how/when they can fail you.
