I studied online a little about the applications of MAs outside finance, ie. in engineering fields and business (sales etc.). Its puts a lot of things into perspective, especially the predictive value of MA is so overestimated in the field of finance (at least in retail trading). My own little thesis concludes using MAs, variance can be a problem. I still use it though, very useful smoothed data and support and resistance gauge. As for predictive value, I leave that to system sellers.
