Yeah, I remember watching Pi and suddenly few weeks later found myself looking at charts and raising the obvious beginner questions regarding market prediction. It was the movie that did it for me.
TV series you might be interested. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098760/ "Capital City was first aired in the late 80s in an attempt to cash in on the success of the film Wall Street. This was the period where greed was good, Filofaxes were cool and London property went up 10 percent in value each month. The series followed a bunch of Euro Flash guys and gals who worked for a major London City institution. If the sight of attractive young things talking about Interest Rate Swaps or quoting Sun Tzu gets you going then this is the series for you." Its on DVD here fwiw: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Capital-Cit...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1233316312&sr=8-1

Thanks for the movie info guys. I actually have Primer in my NetFlix Instant Queue, so I'll have to check that one out tonight. *** One classic that I don't think anyone has mentioned is Glengarry Glen Ross. While not specifically trading related, it's a real gem in that it shows the high pressure, high stakes, cut throat environment that inhabits many a brokerage office (regardless of the commodity being sold). Two for the Money is also tops on my list (to show what love-of-money can do to you). I also like Rounders ... low key, and Gretchen Mol never had the chops to make it in the big-time, but the movie is still worth watching.
Pi was a good flick regarding markets for anyone chasing the holy grail. You get to see what happens when Icarus flies to close to the sun. On another note, wall street 2 is filming(pic attached)! Now that's something I'm looking forward to. Guess Douglas is getting old enough to play a Maddoff (even resembles him a bit here).
A few more obscure videos are: Dealers (1989) staring Rebecca De Mornay (that fact alone is worth the price of admission). Deal (2007) staring Burt Reynolds ... heh, he's still got it! 21 (2008) about the MIT card counting students. Lucky You (2006) for your Eric Bana/Troy fans.
haha seeing that kid dressed up like that looks awkward. Not his normal movie type, be nice to see how this one turns out!
