I used to go to the movies quite a bit, at least once every 2 or 3 weeks. Anymore I'm lucky if I get there once every 3 months. Many things have changed and it's not my desire to watch movies at the big screen. The theatre I go to cut their movie times, no move late shows during the week and that's the time I like to go. They also made a ton of the food service stuff self service which is super annoying when you are paying 20 bucks for a popcorn and soda.
The last movie I saw in a theatre was Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. (Yes, seriously). I guess I am out of the loop on how bad movie theatres have become? Why is nothing worthy anymore? (Although I saw the Dark Tower trailer today with Matt McConaughey. Looks like a fun film.)
I still go to theaters but only ones that tend to focus on independent, foreign, art house, documentary, or similar. I.e. Non Hollywood.
I went to a movie once, two of us in the whole theatre, right? wifey and I sitting there waiting for the movie to start. Two more people came in, sat right behind us. At that point there are four people in the whole place. They started kicking the back of the seat! No more theater after that hardly at all, you never know if they are going to let you enjoy the show or mess it up for you...
I try to write software while the gf is in the next room watching tv sometimes. Some low budget movies will have nonstop shooting, explosions, car tire noises, car crash noises, and lots and lots of yells and screams... It's just low budget way to make a movie, CGI, not pay writers, etc... After about a half hour of that I can't focus on the screen let alone crank out code...
