If you had a choice... moving to a Christian leaning country or a Islam leaning country, which would you choose? http://www.nytimes.com/ref/world/20070622_CAPEVERDE_GRAPHIC.html# By an overwhelming number, most people are migrating to Christian leaning countries and leaving Islam leaning countries. Clearly, people all over the world prefer Christian leaning countries over Islam leaning countries.
MGB, That appears a false dichotomy. Religion/Christianity in the Western world was subjected to the rigors of both the Reformation and the Enlightenment, directing Western nations into Secular government. Islam was not. Islamic countries, except Turkey, are Theocratic. People really like to choose freedoms associated with Secular government for obvious reasons. That would be the principal driver, not a leaning toward the puzzling complexities of christian religion in all it's various forms and guises.
Just wondering in how many wars and conflicts did Israel physically support USA. How many Jewish soldiers died for USA in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Personally I would move to a country where there is a separation between church and state.... a country that adheres to this principle in practice. Maybe Scandinavian countries (don't start the socialist argument, they consistently have the highest quality of livings every year)would be the best... highest percentage of atheists there. Plus your Christian/Islam example doesn't seem very plausible. Isn't Islam the fastest growing religion in the world?
+1... exactly Israel is the #1 recipient of US aid and what do they give us in return? Nothing! The US should stop supporting other countries financially and with military equipment. That includes Israel and Egypt. Our government should be taking care of its own citizens on American soil. We have enough problems here in the states. Let Israel fend for itself. It already has a hell of a Air force and it possesses 300+ nukes (defensive purposes). Let them be men enough and take care of themselves....
Let Israel fend for itself? Let's think this through... What are the pros and cons? PROS: 1) America doesn't contribute +$1 Billion to Israel. CONS: 1) The actions of Israel and Arabs countries could destabilize the Middle East and destabilize the oil industry, which in turn will destabilize the economy in America (worse than 9/11). Contributing +$1 Billion to keep Israel in our pocket allows us to have a $13 Trillion economy. There are much deeper issues to consider than "ideal" ways of doing things. Some decisions are not as easy as they appear.
