i am currently getting into sp futures trading and at the moment i must agree 100%. i do not find really good short strategies.
Wasn't it Soros who said he never lost more money than when shorting stocks? For every big winner you have how many frustrating trades that come back near your entry or just plain losses, small or big do you have? The urge to short or the belief you have to play both sides at all times is a major mistake IMO.
I don't know, I always thought short was long upside down. I miss bullets. Even more, I wish they would do away with the uptick rule. Fat chance though.
The introduction of the decimal system made it easier to sell short. All you need is a .01 uptick. The only thing that bullets facilitated was momentum short selling. No great loss except for a very small % of traders.
