OBVIOUSLY, NOT BEING ABLE TO TRADE WITHOUT BULLETS HAS MADE SHORTING A STOCK EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. ARE THERE ANY STYLES OUT THERE WHICH YOU FIND TO BE PRETTY PROFITABLE? OR DO YOU JUST SHORT WITH ALL THAT SIZE THAT IS FOLLOWING THE LAST PRINT DOWN? OR ARE YOU GUYS JUST HOPING THAT THE SPECIALIST DOES A SQUEEZE AND FILLS YOU ON A SPREAD BACK UP? OR DO YOU REFUSE TO CHASE IT DOWN AND PUT YOUR SHORT LIMIT SALES 30-40 CENTS ABOVE LAST PRINT? WHAT KIND OF PAIN THRESHHOLD ARE YOU GUYS GIVING YOURSELVES?

THE REASON WHY I ASK IS BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE I LOST SOME GREAT OPPORTUNITIES TO SHORT SOME STOCKS LATELY.

  2. Try switching to a long only strategy.
what i mean is buying rallies in a declining stock.
buying breakouts and dips in a stock that is in an uptrend.

other than that all you can do is buy puts.

or switch to ES or NQ futures. (i.e. shorting the futures.)

    just a thought.

I only the Stock Index Futures now and Commodities.

Instead of looking for new ways to short, you should be thankful that it's been made more difficult. In this market environment, your opportunities for long profits are far greater.

but nothing like % in that bear market.

    Opportunity for long profits are far greater;
& a tender offer wont kill you.

    I agree 100%:)

If you MUST short then the above is by far the best way.
I would only add one more......shorting Single Stock Futures.

Well, I'm a pro and I don't. Don't need to. If you are trading stocks, there are more than enough long opportunities in any market environment. The added risk - and it IS added risk - of short positions is not necessary for a good return.

  8. Look for stocks that have had hi volume breaks and then retrace on light volume ..then put them out..this has been a huge add to our returns...

See: JBLU, ERTS, SNDK, KKD, PNRA, NTES, SINA, LNCR, AMZN, CECO, and AZO.

There are opps both ways in this mkt. Just gotta dig around for 'em.

    Best,

    David

Added 500 shares of CPN @ 4.75 and will sell a majority around the 5.50 area. Stop (mental)- triggered only if it closes below 4.40. I do not let intraday stops stop me out unless major major news - not the intraday noise.
