The same goes for a lot of the other guys mentioned too. Wright brothers were the first to fly, but others were working on it. Einstein's contributions would likely have been made by someone else. The same could be said about nearly all on the list, from what I can tell. But it's the turn that Marxism took that distinguishes it from others. It's absolutely a failed idea - that revolution must proceed socialism. But many have taken that route, not as a road to some sort of "nirvana" that socialism promises, but as an excuse for a power grab "for the benefit of the proletariat".
Agree with it all. Today we don't think of labor as the "proletariat", that's too old-fashioned, too Marxist, no, they're just "the public". Makes all of us sound merely like part of the same happy class, lol. And no need to "grab" power, just convince that public they benefit via the invisible hand, and trickle down.
