Is the DNC actually going to run a candidate that has any possibly of beating Trump? Or are they going to have Hillary or one her cronies run again?
If Hillary only came up 78000 votes short with low turn out and a divided party nearly anyone can beat Trump in 2020 when the party will be united with high turn out.And dont forget approval and favorability polls show Trump has lost millions of voters who voted for him in 2016
You seem to be forgetting that sitting Presidents tend to always to have a significant edge when they are running for re-election. This means that they tend to do better in their second election than their first for President - even when their popularity ratings are lagging. It is usually a very challenging situation for the minority party to win a Presidential election against a sitting President.... and they better select a pristine candidate if they want any opportunity to win.
Popular vote in LA and NY. Got it. The fact that Trump won the rest of the country is not that important to you.
