  2. I'm curious if we will find him back the next weeks.

Being all the weeks in the top 10 is worth more then once + 697%.

Winners of such a competitions are almost never able to make it in real trading. 99.99% will never be succesfull.

  3. This is good but remember these contests are like poker tourneys you just go all in and hope for the best as it is not real money but stake money.

You would never trade like this in real life unless you where a total fool.

Buy in for a contest is usually free as long as you open an account so what's he risking AIR.

  4. Spot the top of EUR/USd at 1.35
keep it to 1.28 at least
Enter at 150:1 leverage. That will give you your return.

At that level of leverage only a 75 pip counter move wipe you out! And even in a clear trend, such a counter move is possible. You need to pick the exact top!

It's pure suicide, and luck. He's a gambler, not a trader. Tell me if he can do it again then i will worship him. I'll bet 1000$ leveraged 200:1 that he won't :)

It's like somebody winning the lottery and you say: "Man this one is a real good number picker!"

Actually, I visited the site and read the official rules. The accounts are live accounts that start the contest with a minimum of $250 USD capital.

  8. Actually I think the way it works is once you open and account ($250 min) you are eligible to entry the contest and they give you $2000 play money.

At least that's how they do it at forex.com

  9. As i already said before: will we seehem back the next weeks?

Well this is the end result of the contest:

    Leader Board
    Final Forex Championship Final Results
Here are the final results for the Final Forex Championship ending at 4/30/2005 at 5:00pm EST. Place Name % Increase Prize
    1. Shi Li 613% US$6,000
    2. Zongyao Zhai 206% US$2,500
    3. Eric Hatschbach 180% US$1,000

So as predicted we didn't see him back in the top. He was up 697% but couldn't keep even 180% otherwise he would have been in the top three. So he lost money from +697% to less than +180%. He might even have got under zero.

Conclusion: make a huge return is not so difficult; but being consistent is.

  10. thought he made an excellent point about lucky winners...

he also has a .pdf link on his website... one of his academic papers maybe that also summarizes that point.
