Not bad, but this really does not go beyond the restaurant. Main problems will start not in the restaurant but when the virgin american soul will get in touch with a paradox called the russian culture, russian society or the russian soul and everything that come with it. Only then the question will arise: did this "fun" really worth those money that the wifey will earn...
I recall going to the Banya in Moscow with pals, between us there was one American. He was delayed as he spotted a McDonalds on the way to the banya, he didn't really like Russian cuisine, so he couldn't pass on the opportunity. He walked into banya in his bathrobe & a burger & walked out pretty much straight away accusing us of being "f...ing gay"
You guys bring a lot of memories with this thread. When I was in High School I worked as a busboy in Paradise restaurant. What a place it was. I have never seen so many people having so much fun. The money was lousy, but I was allowed to take as much food as I wanted and I had a side business driving several of the waitresses home. Mind you, I was studying at the local college so there was always hungry souls hanging around my house. Since I regularly brought home at least 10 whole chickens, another 5 whole ducks, tens of pounds of bananas, and everything else the boss no longer had use for, there were always people hanging at my place. Ever since then, I had many jobs, none of them as fun and exciting as this busboy gig. Btw. excellent post on the whole restaurant culture. One could add that most Easter Europeans party in similar ways.

I use to work for Renaissance Capital in Moscow (investment bank) ; as a European ......I always recommend people to avoid the place .... I can write books on all the crazy things I saw there ...... G_D forbid if you look dark, or African .....they will kill you.... Crazy place ......
cold winter does not mean cold summer. Summer in Moscow is hot, sometimes 30 Celsius and more so to have AC is nice. However AC in Moscow is an element of comfort opposite to Egypt for example where AC is an essential element of survival
Vladimir, I am surprised to hear such BS from you. May be in Russia white bears are walking down the street and everybody can drink vodka at street for free? Please don't mislead our overseas colleagues, Moscow is the same that NY, there is no difference...
