Moscow?

  1. Horseshit.

I rented an apartment for $5000 a month because the company paid for it. It was in the center of town off Tverskaya and a gorgeous, spacious place that 4 families occupied in Soviet times.

You can rent a nice place for $1000 a month that is JUST FINE, but when I was referring to renting apartments, I was referring to business travelers renting for two or three days, maybe a week. I've rented MANY places, right in the center for no more than $150 a day and they were great, one bedroom apartments.

The reason those prices on evans.ru are so high is because expats and their companies pay for them. They're also in ritzy areas like Chisty Prudie.

As for prostitutes, I do know a lot about them. I never used any, but had many expat friends who did, as well as business clients who wanted them. I always had to translate.

  3. Duh.

No, when they wanted to speak with the girl first. I remember a conversation in this place called "Night Flight", right on Tverskaya. It's a Swedish run place known for it's special "guests".

Consultant for work wanted to go, so I took him. Leggy blond sits down next to us.

Him: "So what do you do for a living?" I give him a stupid look.

Me (in Russian): He wants to know what you work as. During the day.

Her (in Russian): "I'm a kindergarden teacher." I laugh.

  5. you are so courteous :) for your info I am an expert in Moscow's real estate so please study up-to-date prices before use bad language...

he-he :) only in your dreams, sir

a 1-room soviet-like style flat in outlying district does cost minimum 600-700$. Add one time rent fee (100% of month cost) and you will get real price.

agree, evans.ru is for expats in the first place and it IS overpriced but 10-20% not more. Please consider that evans.ru is perfectly safe and Moscow's real estate market is full of criminals so this 10-20% premium is your insurance.

    Peace.

  6. I didn't say that evans.ru was not safe. I said it was overpriced.

I agree that the moscow real estate market is full of criminals. Btu once again we're talking about businessmen staying in an apartment as opposed to hotels. In short term rentals - which are available in quite nice locations for $150 (I paid this and more sometimes).

As for $1000 a month, the apartment is small (and near the third ring) but completely clean and tidy. "Soviet style" is rather harsh, since many of my friends who are expats (that are not on paid housing) live quite comfortably in these places. They do just fine.

Evans.ru goes for expat clients, not people looking for $1000 a month places (traditionally). As a result, you see all the $15,000 a month stuff like Rosynka, etc.

Incidently, do you sell apartments or work for evans?

  7. I do not sell something here and never work for evans.

evans is just an example, you can look at any respected agency (Pennylane, MIEL, MIAN, etc) and you will see "overprice"

    http://www.miel.ru/
    http://www.realtor.ru/
    http://www.mian.ru/

I am not an affiliate with any agency...

There is another type of agency where prices are 10-20% and may be 30% lower but it is not safe case at all.

    150*30=4500$

I know a person who rent 100 sq.m. apartment in Chistie Prudi district for 500$ per month. He rented this apartment 7 years ago. There are exeptions, of course. Today you can rent for $1000 per month uncomfortable 2-room flat near the third ring. No western renovation, no air condition, etc. Or you can rent 1-room good apartment. I consider this not appropriate for western manager or high qualified specialist.

I repeat, 600-700$ is MINIMAL price today for rent in Moscow. If you are lucky you can find something appropriate for 3000 but not less.

Ivanovich, you can check it by yourself - study russian rent websites.
