Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) is raising its 2011 EPS estimate for Mosaic (NYSE:MOS) to reflect a more favorable near-term cost environment at the company's South Fort Meade phosphate mine.
Analysts Vincent Andrews and Megan Davis said, "This is a function of a partial settlement reached today that will allow for four months of mining on a limited portion of SFM while the litigation over the underlying permit runs concurrently. That SFM is proving to be an increasingly manageable risk is very much inline with the expectations that we laid out when the issue came up back in July. There is no change to our valuation methodology ..."

The bank maintained its overweight rating on the stock, with a $77 price target.
Morgan Stanley sees fiscal 2011 EPS of $3.97 and fiscal 2012 EPS of $4.75.
