Morgan Stanley Credits ‘Bidenomics’ for Economic Surge

Discussion in 'Politics' started by exGOPer, Jul 22, 2023.

  1. whichever god or president you worship..the economy is doing fine right now... GDP growth at 3%, low unemployment, real.wage growth has been outpacing inflation last 2 years, stock market is up quite a bit last 2 years resulting in net positive growth in retirement plans and investments etc....

don't whine about the economy because politics has you brainwashed to take a side.

Main group feeling it is lower class which always is screwed in bad or good economy. A person earning $25,000 and now earning $32,000 is still.struggling to pay rent/mortgage, food, car and save money because it's a shit salary unless you live in the country side.

A family of 4 with two earners is still struggling mainly because they spend like Americans. When 2 people earning a combined $150,000 are struggling while living in a house they cannot afford with 2 new cars, the best cell phones and every channel on cable...it's not the economy stupid. Americans don't know how to live within their means even when making good.money.

I've always been frugal, buy good boots that last kind of guy. I was brought up by an engineer dad who just fixed anything around the house as a matter of principle and an artist/historian mom who was not a clothes horse, didn't spend much on most typical women things but when she passed, the word elegant was the most mentioned trait about her material qualities. You can always be in style, if you have your own mind of what it is and influence others.

I look at my Amercian cousins sometimes and it's breathtaking how much money they piss into nothing, not only to keep up with the Joneses but just habitually wasteful*. When you hear intelligent people making a half a million who think they can't make ends meet anymore, you have to question their sense of reality and priority.

Spending money to make money? Sure but not as a form of retail psychotherapy, emotional fulfillment in itself.

*just this morning one was moaning about throwing out four frozen turkeys because someone was sick and they didn't cook them over Christmas. You 'effing eat them when it's not Christmas then, curry whatever. But the "it's not worth my time" culture, to even give them away...

  4. We are all entitled to our opinions about the economy but the majority opinion is clear.

  5. Ive been on this planet for decades and economically the last 4 years feels the worst it has ever been.Never in my life have Ive personally seen or heard of so many people moving in with their parents, working 2 jobs or 60+ hours a week, empty refrigerators, delaying medical appointments and cutting their medication pills in half for it to last longer, kids in public rather than private schools, people asking me to loan them money, over a month between haircuts or getting their hair done,no vacations, destroying their cars for Uber/Doordash etc.

The last 4 years have really seemed depressing

America is getting fatter since the Pandemic when people should be losing weight during tough economic times. Simply, they can afford to continue buying more food, more fat at higher prices when grocery store prices are so high. That implies they have money to spend and refusing to cut back on their expenses.

My last visit to the states...I saw too many fat people or people who are overweight in the grocery stores. Many of the top restaurants have waiting lists. Shopping malls are full or maybe a little overcrowded...markets and Bitcoin at record levels.

Gas dropped a lot since their highs and now near $3.128 level although not below the $2.464 level when Biden was inaugurated.

Just as important, there will not be a January 6th riot today when Trump's election victory is certified...avoiding a financial shock wave in the markets.

Dem supporters will be good today. There will not be a protest and then a violent riot at the Capitol. Giving MAGA another lesson about respecting the vote, respecting Democracy, and the U.S. Constituion. This is what America wants although we're a little brainwashed that life is going to improve.

What in the hell are people bitching about grocery store prices, energy costs, and the U.S. dollar has stronger power in foreign economies since earlier last year along with an inflow of income into investments.

America is in the midst of the greatest global wealth transfer in it's history with great employment numbers although job switching has slowed these past few months as the minimum wage increases.

Yet, there's another reality, if the cost of living FEELS too expensive or people do not feel like they're able to reach their financial goals, they have growing medical debt (hospital bills) from the Pandemic, growing credit card debt...the economy sucks to these people especially with war still continuing between Russia/Ukraine and Israel/Hamas still have problems...probably negotiating another ceasefire/hostage release deal...

They're pssst and there's a good chance they're going to become angrier because they're being left out especially when the countries have defaulted and economies getting weaker.

  7. There is a Flying J truck stop along the interstate that I pass on my way home and sometimes I stop for there for Dennys,Pizza or Cinnibons. The last 4 years every time I stop after sundown the parking lot is full and I have to park along side the interstate or the gas pump. The reason the parking lot is full is because of people living in their cars park there overnight. Its not just junk cars either, many of the cars are usually modern 40,000 + cars and even some luxury cars like BMWs/Lexus/Mercedes etc.Last time I went a few weeks ago there were signs in the parking lot and doors saying people living in there cars could no longer park there overnight and if employees seen the same car overnight more than once they would call the police to have the person banned from the property.I had never seen this prior to 2020.

The WHO declared the Pandemic over in early May 2023. Typically it takes 4 - 5 years for economies and people's income levels to stabilize if they were stable prior to the Pandemic.

The first to recover from a Pandemic are the financial markets as the rich became richer. The financial recovery then trickles down for another 4 - 5 years to the middle class if we can avoid high tariffs, wars in the global environment, and a recession.

    If not, America is fucked.
