After some brief browsing I can't believe how much gun prices have inflated the last couple of decades. I paid $400 for my Colt 1911 combat government model and less than $700 for my Springfield Armory M1A.

That little Ruger LCP is a sweet gun. While I prefer its slightly bigger cousin the LC9 because I like 9mm over .380 the important thing is that it's small/light enough that you will regularly take it with you. Like many I have bigger calibers for home defense or target shooting, but those don't get taken out (or rarely) because: ... they won't fit in the pocket ... or they're just too big ... or they're just too heavy ... or I didn't feel like wearing a belt ... or I didn't feel like putting on a holster ... or I had to dress up a little and couldn't wear a loose shirt ... or it's summer and I'm wearing shorts ... etc. etc. etc. Much better to have that .380 with you if the thugs threaten because they couldn't care less about that big ole .45 ACP or 12 gauge you keep at home.
