More than 2 IDE per channel

  1. I have 3 IDE hard drives, and two CD drives, yet my motherboard has the standard 2 IDE channels.

My PCI slots are full - anyone know a cheap way (<$50) to install the 3rd HD, maybe via USB or parallel?

Does it have to be an IDE drive?

Otherwise, look at getting a "FireWire" card, and now you can daisy chain as many disks as you like. In addition, it is way faster than USB, and you can easily get external drives. You can even get an enclosure for your IDE drive and turn it into a FireWire drive.
