All I know is that its a pretty sad state of affairs when Mr Gloom and Doom gives a generic speech (change?) and the opposing party responds with Kenneth from 30 rock.....yeah we're screwed....

Listening to one of Obama's speeches is comparable to watching a Magician (sleight of hand type) operate.
The expiration date on some of his statements is pretty damn short.

  4. Jindal is sharper than Obama, just not as polished a speaker. The part that gets me is when all the liberals on cnn.com were making fun of the guy for being Indian. They are supposedly about equality on the liberal side, but the retards on facebook had no problems making fun of the Indian guy. If Jindal were black, this wouldn't have happened.

Liberals are a bunch of thieving racists in this country. The way they bow in front of blacks is just testimony to how lowly they think of blacks -- blacks are nothing more than convenient charity cases for statist liberals. If I were black, I'd feel so deeply ashamed. Years of struggle in this country, successful businesses, amazing sports leagues, music accomplishments, even a few scientists and mathematical thinkers, but the liberals killed all that after the 60s.

Sure, Jindal is another puppet republican; however, he's a real middle-class success story.

  5. It wasn't a bad speech, especially compared to that clown from Louisiana. What was the point of that guy talking? Did he want me to buy something? Do infomercials normally follow state of the union speeches or was this a special case?

In this environment, I really don't know what a leader could say, in the U.S. or anywhere else on the planet. All anyone can do is inspire hope and keep people calm. It's going to get worse before it gets better and everyone with half a brain knows it.

For those with a political axe to grind, there is absolutely nothing Obama could have said to please you. Just continue with your neuroleptic regimen, so you won't hurt yourself or others.

Speeches are nothing more than crafted scripts designed for political purposes, especially with this group.

I don't want his hope, platitudes, and socialism, I want a real chance of a better future.

    Hope is for losers.

  8. Why wasn't this speech called a "state of the union" address?

Perhaps because they were trying to tone it down and avoid viewership? I almost missed it myself.

This had a very different tone than past state of the unions - it was muted, subdued, and really didn't offer anything concrete.

I was dissapointed, even though the speechwriting wasn't bad.

At least there was some honesty in saying that TARP I and TARP II will not be enough.

  9. Don't blame the guy too much. He was just connecting with the Republican base...

  10. Obama? You mean the guy dealing with Bush's unintended consequences?
