Tsing, you need to get in step with the times, and your team: "This discussion will not be dictated to by fact checkers." This is why you lost, and it's why you deserved to lose.
NO moron, we (all) lost because the parasite/welfare/entitlement class and their bleeding heart liberal cheerleaders now outnumber the responsible tax payers PERIOD.
So jobs losses have or have not been announced yet? Riddles don't save you here, my friend. Take your time on the response. I have to head to the airport and it'll take me a good hour in commute.
That's because under Obamacare, Co's. have an incentive to off those costs to the govt. Lets say John goes ahead and raises the price of a pizza .15 to cover the cost. If other pizza chains don't raise prices, or even if they do, his sales will drop, lowering demand and the need for employees. He's doing exactly the right thing, given the circumstances. You can argue the morality of it, but bottom line, his business will suffer if he raises prices. All Obamacare did is but a very flawed system (employer paid HC) on steroids. In an earlier post someone (Max?) said that this was by design and I think he's right. If they really wanted to reform HC, they would design a plan that at least recognizes market forces, which is the ONLY way you can effectively lower costs. HSA's were a good start in that direction, but these will be scaled down under Obamacare.
As I was reading through the 18 pages of this thread I was hoping someone would state the obvious. Good one Lucrum! The immature left will always say big business or big government can pay. In the end it always get passed down to the consumer/taxpayer. Ah...... if it were only .14 for each pizza !!!! How much for each gallon of gas, there's the employees that work on the oil rigs, the tankers, the pipeline, those that work at the refinery, the ones that drive the trucks to deliver, the ones that work at the station. How much for your food, we have workers on the farm, workers at the processing plants, workers at the warehouse, workers at the store. How much more for your tires. How much more for your clothes. Think about everything you as a consumer buy and use, EVERYTHING. Workers who find increases on the cost of living, demand higher wages, business faced with higher wage demands must raise prices and/or cut labor cost. The consumer/taxpayer will always get stuck in the end. From the beginning of this country the argument has always been the same, the size of government. The Federalist (now known as the Democrats) think big government (socialism) is the answer to all our problems. The Wigs (now know as the Republicans) think big government IS the problem. When Social Security first started, they said "don't worry" it's only 1% and your employer pays half of that. That pizza only cost .14 cents more today, $1.25 more tomorrow. Government cost money. Big government cost big money. As the liberals are so proud of reminding us of, they voted for a Government that continues down the road of socialism, and since there can be no disagreement that socialism is a failure, there can only be one conclusion. There is no way that taxes can keep up with the growth of government no matter how much you tax. You can tax the rich till there are no rich. "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." -Thomas Jefferson
A question for the lefties here. (Now I'm being serious) Please explain to me ....since history is littered with so many examples of the failures of socialism,..... I would really like an explanation of why the Democrats think they can make it work??
Imo, just talking....being elected to office and just managing the resources you have, maintaining the stautus quo is the equivilant of doing nothing. I've read about a few elected officials and their constituents being quite satisfied with the way things are but along comes the competition saying "look at this guy, he hasn't done anything" "vote for me and I'll do this and I'll do that". One example, We are paying for million dollar a mile bike paths (this is the current figure in new york to build a mile of bike path.) The list is endless. I wish people would quit doing shit for me....
