LOL Funny guy My taking courses days are long gone my friend..... I'm just trying to help others through my lessons learned about vendors.
The last time he made a self-promotion effort, it was $300/hour: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19717
True if your theory is executed via an automated mechanical system. However, if not...there's a lot of advantages to sharing your methodology with others (fee-based or not): * More eyes on the markets. Helps prevent missing trade signals and allows you to trade other markets that you normally don't trade. * Feedback from those familar with your method so that you can improve it even more. * Ability to make money when your not trading while on vacations, time off from the markets. Just remember...some people are very good at multitasking while others just can't do it. Here's an example of one of the above... When I was being mentored (taught a specific strategy in person, during market hours while the mentor traded)... Things got very slow one particular afternoon and I just happen to be using a chart interval on my laptop that that was different from the chart interval being used at the time by the mentor on his desktop. I saw his trade signal while he was just sitting there doing nothing but staring at his monitor. I told him and he quickly looked at my laptop screen...spun around and entered the trade position... He made $7,200 on a 50k trade by end of day on something I saw (not him)...eventhough it was via his trade methodology (non-mechanical system)... More eyes on the market and just an example that trading can be a team sport. ________ That could make an intersting competition...trading teams instead of individual trading competitions... Retail traders from Dallas versus retail traders from Chicago... Prop firm from Las Vegas versus Prop firm from Miami Someone call Nike and TradeStation to sell advertising space... Sarcasm. ________ Last of all, I don't think those that are charging a fee for their services are actually sharing it with an open forum other than advertising it (without revealing too much) at an open forum... If they do reveal it in detail...its usually as a marketing tool for something else (Bright boys are very good at this). P.S. I didn't get any of his profits for my efforts that day with my mentor. Just a thank you, hand shake with a lesson plan for the next trading day NihabaAshi
The one thing you said that I agree with is that perhaps having more eyes reviewing your strategy 'may' help improve it with a slight tweak or modification to your method. I think the chances of that happening are limited and the downside risk of telling the general public is too high. I did try and get involved with a few traders on here to daytrade and talk about ideas and strategies. I got nothing from it and the group soon vanished. It is highly unlikely that someone who had a very good method or ability to trade stocks would have any desire to share that with anyone else. You have to ask yourself why would they? We are all trying to buy something at a lower price and sell it to someone else at a higher price (or vice versa for shorting). We cannot all be the low buyers and high sellers now can we? lol. peace.
