  2. Ugh, it should be obvious to any literate person... Do you want to take over for a while?? I seriously feel like I'm talking to a 2 year old... While I know that cognitive ability is largely heritable, it doesn't make it any less annoying to explain things to people like this. What can I say, patience is a virtue...

I mean seriously, he's got the conceptual depth is like some stammering delerious drunk on the street!!! How does he even operate a computer??

  3. The reason that you cannot answer the question is because you began by pretending to know about a topic you know next to nothing about. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that you painted yourself into a corner. And then, being exposed for the poseur that you are, you shamelessly attempted to strut and swagger your way out of it. Meanwhile, you continue to know next to nothing about the topic. And so, we are once again reminded of the title of this thread.

I think the article says it well, liberals think like 10 year olds when it comes to defending their religion.

  5. I did answer the question Gabby. I'm not in any corner. I never claimed to know everything about the topic. I only familiarize myself with what is pertinent to my work as a trader. In fact I think I said "I'm not an accountant". The other participants in this conversation understood my answer, you are the only one who did not. I have no clue what "strut" or "swagger" you are talking about. Question has been asked and answered. You didn't know what ex items reporting was, and I told you. You didn't know what was new about it's use, and I told you. Other people got it, for some reason you didn't...If you have any other financial questions, let me know. You're welcome....

  6. I knew about reporting for extraordinary items probably before you were born. No, I asked you what was new about the method, since you said it was a new method:
You have yet to explain in what way accounting for extraordinary items is now a new method as compared to what it had previously been. That is, how does this "new" method compare to the old method? How is it different? And so, are you lying to yourself now as well as lying to me? Either way, we are once again drawn to the title of this thread.

As an aside, rather than admit at the outset that you misspoke when I pointed it out, you chose to ridicule me. Not unlike holding on to a bad trade, wouldn't you say?

What is new is the methodology of extreme focus on the extraordinary items. What I think he is saying that the new method to report earnings growth more heavily emphasizes this when compared to the recent past.

On that point I agree because revenue growth certainly can't explain 'explosive' earnings growth.

But why drill down anyway? the larger point remains no matter how you haggle about within the details

  8. LOL!!! Suuure you did gabby... I never said that ex items reporting was new. You just made that up and are too stupid to understand what I meant, or are just trolling for a semantics argument. Either way it's hard for me to remain motivated to stay in this converstaion.

I said that the method by which ex items is now being used is new. I didn't say that ex items reporting was a new development within the practice of accounting.

The difference is that now it's being used far more liberally, and with less scrutiny. They have turned ex items into a black hole. Before ex items would typically be used for something like, say, a fire in a company office building. The kinds of things which are being classified ex items these days is utterly absurd. It seems like the newest, and seemingly most popular, creative accounting gimmick. If you ever go over internals (you probably don't), it's starting to look like it might turn into the mother of all creative accounting gimmicks. It really seems like this has been ignored by regulators as well. I have heard about greivances from shareholders/investors which have been ignored by regulators etc.

Given that you haven't been able to follow the very simple concepts in this conversation so far, I don't actually understand you to grasp much of this. But in time, who knows what can happen.... Maybe if you invest enough time and are really dedicated, you will finally grasp all of it...

sooo... which part of the constitution do you want to throw out? Usually "I hate the Republicans" means that freedom of speech = Christians shut up, queers act up, and gun rights = guns are bad, take away the guns, Immigration = you're a racist and on and on with the insanity that only brainless liberals can join in...

"I hate liberals" = kick in the doors of citizens and confiscate their property before a trial even starts

I just really don't give a flying f%^k about any parties, any political spectrum or the economy anymore, I want all my freedoms and I want them yesterday...

It's not as if you can really call everyone who wants spending under control and less socialism a right wing wacko.

I believe the author's intent was to talk about extreme social right wingers like the folks who live in compounds in Idaho (more like extreme communists), or the Bob Jones university folk.

The article is crap anyway. He talks about fear driving social conservatives yet there is plenty of fear on the left. What's wrong with fearing economic calamity and social upheaval?
