I would agree with the hire a CPA if you don't have the time to look into it yourself. Quarterly estimates are pretty easy to do online. I do it for the state and Federal taxes. I have to say as annoying as the whole tax code is this part of it is really easy. I like quarterly as I rarely have equal monthly earnings on my daytrading and I get a better feel on how much to withhold doing it every 3 months as opposed to guessing each month and probably over withholding.

 

Your remark reminds me of the old saying almost only counts in horseshoes.

 

my ground rule is never to prepay tax without regular income, no point to loan the money to dot gov.

 

The best a free info exchange can offer is a shot at being valuable.

I looked up that old saying, looks like one of many things invented by poor people that helps them stay poor, expecting someone to solve their problems, discarding anything less of a full solution at no cost.

 

Probably depends on where you live and your tax rules. I think I would prefer to wait annually myself in the UK.
