Monsanto's Roundup and Cancer..

  1. It is just funny to imagine they can come up with an acceptable level...how do we really know what is acceptable levels of a chemical like that that affects cellular function...

  2. Regarding "acceptable levels" in general, what is the alternative? It's the world we live in. Do you think a completely toxin-free environment even exists, outside of a bubble?

  3. Hey 85, something I know about, roundup and farming. Monsanto recommends "special" formulations of roundup for aerial spraying. Bahahahahahaha, what a joke, 3/4" from the wing tip or 3/4" prop tip to minimize drift, Oh yeah, and not in 10 mph wind and "larger" droplets. Ok and what about the stuff that falls right on the corn, you idiots, or the beehives. This is clearly the amoral viewpoint of profits uber alles, and the powers that be allow this. There is a need for roundup, but, spraying it overhead egad. This is why they came up with "roundup ready" corn.

There are wicking attachments that apply this stuff right on the ground level, no drift or surface contamination of the crop, but it is more "labor" intensive, you have to drive a tractor around instead of hiring a crop duster. Also as far as need is concerned, look up morning glory infested corn crop, and you can see that this noxious weed, just like TRO can kill a thread, morning glory can kill a stand of corn in a very short period of time. So, profits rule and safety drools.

  4. The issue with acceptable levels is that it implies we reach an unacceptable level and what is that level. What is measured is acceptable level of exposure in a single instance but what is never discussed is accumulated exposure. Then the acceptable level is truly an arbitrary number and is meaningless if you are exposed to it on a daily basis. That level is never discussed.

It is like saying acceptable levels of mercury in tuna but what if you eat it every day. Then you will easily surpass any maximum level and be exposed to the health risks.

  5. I would think that if the limits of "acceptable levels" were approached, most thinking people would be a bit circumspect about repeated and regular exposure.

Again, what's the alternative? I get the criticism, but do you have a better idea?

Glyphosate is a neurotoxin. Monsanto is very powerful in the ag lobby and the ag lobby is very powerful in Washington.

The bee colony collapse of several years ago generated research re: pesticides including glyphosate. The great collapse was blamed on mites. Research suggested that the mites were able to overcome the bee's natural protection was due to pesticides, glyphosate the major player. Monsanto managed to supress.

  9. Well here we are. First I would like to observe that just because a substance can show neurotoxic effects at high concentrations does not classify it as a neurotoxin.

Now Carbaryl, is designed as a neurotoxin, and is classified as such.

However, there is this, now my first guess would be personality changes due to Hypoxia or PTSD, like not being able to breathe, but there is this article.

    Then there is this guy

1943-2016 working with, mercury (in the flux). Lead, all sorts of solvents, and smoked cigars. Died at 94.

So what to do, grow your own, oh and I have no issue selling my organic tomatoes at $4.80 a pound plus shipping, just let me know.
