Re Carlin, this was only one of his many points, his main points in most of his shows is his amazement with dumb Americans who limitless consume and get dumber and fatter by the day. You have zero concept of time scales. Scientists have already measure lots of historical fossilized records. Like the magnetic pole shifts. They have taken readings from the mid-Atlantic rifts and have seen pole reversals happening like 30 times or some crazy number in the history of the tectonic plates there. But then you ask scientists what effect our carbon footprint will have on the earth, over the past 150 years of industrialization? They go hammana hammana hammana. They have NO idea what effect it will have. They just follow the political view so they can continue to get federal grants from politicians so they can continue to get a salary and predict DOOM! They all sit there and cite how a 2 degree rise in Celcius will melt all the glacial ice and will kill us as a species. Yes, and? How do they know? Ice core samples is what they cite. I call BS, and I call them back to remember what the fuck timescale actually is. It is as big as the universe, but in length, not width. The earth WILL SURVIVE WITH OR WITHOUT US.
