As a follow up ended up going with a Dell 2410wfp. No comparison to the Samsung 2494hm. Small text is surprisingly clear, lots of ports and screen adjustments - tilt, height, can even rotate 90 horizontal to vertical. Very happy with this one.
My love child is a 24" Giant Beat. The step kid is a 22" K.Con. What can I say, listened to too much jazz and Bonzo, size matters, I love big pies. Dell Ultras can be great value, unfortunately it's a bit of a crap shoot when you buy it because they use multiple sources for the screens. And they are not all the same, despite Dell's best supply chain efforts.
