Monitor Has Reddish Tinge

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by AAAintheBeltway, Jan 30, 2004.

  1. I just hooked up a new CRT monitor and have the dreaded red tinge in one corner of the display. I know there has been discussion here of this, but I couldn't find it. Is this an electromagnetic interference issue? I have five other displays that work fine. The card works fine with other monitors. Any help appreciated.

sound like monitor going bad, make sure you have shipping box ready.

  3. I got the same thing after I dropped the monitor and it hit on the corner.

  4. If it's just in one corner and you have no external magnetic interference then it's likely the shadow mask picked up stray magnetism in shipping. Maybe it was next to a large woofer on the truck or something. I had a Toshiba TV that had that many years ago. It doesn't take much to magnetize a mask to the point it affects color.

You'll need to use an external degausser.

  5. OK, you guys are right. Just got off the phone with Samsung and they are shipping me a replacement.
