Is there any signal degradation with longer monitor cables? Is there a difference between DVI and VGA cables in terms of length and degradation?
Look up an earlier post here on Elite with somewhat the same Title and the same forum I believe. There are big problems with DVI extensions.... they don't work. I tried. VGA needs a booster past 6-8 feet usually. Check out .. BELKIN signal boosters at ......belkin.com .....800-223-5546 Compton CA
You can get long DVI cables, but they are VERY expensive beyond about 10' in length. I use 10' ones myself and they work flawlessly at my current 1280x1024 resolution. As for VGA cables, if you get properly shielded cables, you do not need a booster. I have one 25' VGA cable that produces a nice image (as good as any 6' cable) at my 1280x1024 resolution at 75-85Hz. It might do well even higher, but I haven't tried. This is were I got my VGA cable... http://www.networktechinc.com/cable-pc.html
