The thread question is Money can't buy happiness.
Only a clown would claim that those that make or have Money big time, think that money alone will solve their life's problems, if ineed they had any problems in the first place.

  2. So your telling me.

If we take away all the money from those rich drug addicts, and make them poor, they would not care about drugs anymore.

I'm sorry to say but that is a horribly wrong statement.

If you take that same person, go back in time, and set it up so they are not rich, your telling me they have a greater chance of not being drug addicts?

I just don't understand how that could make sense.

How could you ever make a statement like that, specifically because you couldn't prove something like that....

If money = drug addiction = depression. Still, money just created that issue then. Although it didn't because that person was a drug addict anyways. They tried drugs. If you took all the money away from them and someone offered them drugs. Would they still take them? You can't possibly answer that.

So the above poster was not correct on that assumption.

Money did directly have an affect on that person though.

  3. If you want to take the OP's orginal question, right down to the core:

    Money Can't Buy Happiness

If you ask that question: Can Money Buy Happiness?
    What is the answer?

YES, it can. Anything is possible. Yes money can buy happiness, you are an idiot if you think it can't.

I buy myself a new car, you better believe I have just bought happiness.

So to answer the original posters question. Yes, money can buy happiness. You give me 50k, I'm going to go buy a fast car and I'm going to be happy. If I crash and die, well, I'm screwed, but regardless, I just bought happiness. You didn't ask if money could result in long term happiness.

Also, happiness means a lot of things to some people.

But regardless. Money affects every single thing that happens in this world.

Money is the only reason we are all still alive. Someone greedy keeps us alive. If we all die, then those who are greedy will die too. We can't have that. That is why we work to protect ourselves. Do we want to die? No.... Why? Because we want to make ourselves better. We want more success. That is why we have armies that protect our country. No we have armies to protect our economy, and to protect our personal wealth. Soldiers die for our economic benefit. They are soldiers because they really want to protect our economic benefit. I'm not even trying to sound like an asshole about it. That is the truth though. People die for money. That is an unbiased truth. I've spent tons of time thinking about this.

Those that are homeless, that are struggling to survive, money would buy them happiness. You give that person a million dollars, no one in this room will tell me otherwise that they did not just become happy. If they go spend a million dollars on drugs, then that is their issue. But they bought it because they believed it would make them happy.

    It's all about money.

If you give a person money. If they don't think it will make them happy, they give it away to someone that they think it can make happy, and they are happy. I love those movies that show people giving up big jobs for something else.

If someone offers you a job for a secure future, and a wealthy living for the rest of your life, you are going to take it. If someone offers you 50 million to play football, even if you suck at it, you are going to play football. That's just fact. You take away all the money in the NFL, you have no more league.

Anyone remember that XFL? You had to win games to make money. Anyone know why the XFL failed? Would you be happy to spend a year of work and not make money where you could have at your previous job? Hell no. TV Ratings went down because the XFL was doomed from the start.

  4. Money as a motivator is what many use. Succeeding and "getting there" can become an addiction.

If you get used to money then the life changing experiences can really set you back and losing the money could be challenging.

In either event...money cannot buy happiness.

Bill gates is still my idol.

His manner and demeanor is that of a documented genius and his physical and mental projections mimic that of a genius.

His talents are the main focus, where money found him out.

The stories of his days at Harvard and his friend which is now the VP of Microsoft are interesting reads.

  5. "In either event...money cannot buy happiness."

    Why can't it though.

Money is a motivator? Money is the only factor. ES, we take away all your money, we take away your job because that firm has no more money at all. You are no longer happy. I know I can make that statement. Ask yourself is that true? You have your loving wife, but I just take away what you love to do. You are no longer happy. I give you back all your money, and your firm. You are happy. You go work at a bank, a bank is a source of money. You are happy because you are working for that bank.

Can someone tell me why something CAN'T happen?

Anything can happen. Are you saying that EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD, this is not true. Of course. I know religion is coming into play with this.

But people, you got to understand, that ANYTHING..... ANYTHING can happen. Even if it is not possible now, it can be tomorrow.

Who ever thought that we could be making clones of ourselves?

Not everyone can have money and buy happiness. They might need some more money to buy what they really want. But you give a person enough money. You will make that person happy that very instant. We are not discussing repercussions of having that money.

But I don't understand why everyone puts the truth aside.

Money buys happiness. ES, you should know that, I talk to you on the messenger. You were happy as hell talking to me about the changes were happening to you. Would you be persuing what you were if it couldn't make you rich? No. Neither would I. You have money. You are a happy guy. If we did one of those "wife swaps" but instead call it "life swap" You'd hate it here.

You are no longer as happy as you once were. We put you back in your regular life, you are happy.

I just don't understand why everyone is saying such a bold statement. Money can NOT buy happiness.

It can. I can prove it.

I want anyone that says they can't... to give me some money and follow me where ever I go. I will prove it and will have a 100% success rate. You can take me anywhere in the world. If you give me enough money, I will show you a happy person.

Some people have standards, and require more money. But you give me enough money. I will show you a happy person. You take me to a hospital, I will get any sick person top medical attention in the world, that person will be happy to know that we tried.

I mean, I just don't understand where the logic with a statement that says "Money can NOT buy happiness"

Someone please clear there mind and tell me what they just did today. They were on the interenet, money allowed them to be on that internet. If a soul on this earth played a video game today *I did* money bought me that pleasure of playing that crazy video game.

If you take away all my money. I can no longer trade. I will be a miserable person because I can't trade.

Money does buy happiness. That is fact. I just need some people who can think with an absolute clear head on this one.

  6. No, you said that. I am saying is "money cannot buy happiness!" - proof all the miserable rich junkies and otherwise self-destructive RICH people! No amount of twisted logic will get you out of this one and reading your post you are stretching it thin already.

  7. This question almost can't be answered with a simple answer.

    Money can buy happiness though.

If you are bold enough to say that can't happen. I will prove it to you.

If we give that person 50 billion dollars, in a few years, that person may not be happy. But I will be bold enough to say you will have made that person happy, at that very moment.

    So money can buy happiness.

Maybe a better question to ask....

How long can money keep you happy?

Maybe that is the more correct question to ask. Because I already proved money can buy happiness, so that discussion is over.

Again, can anyone answer the question, how long can money keep you happy? There is a real question, and there is no way any single person could answer that because everyone is different.

You give Bill Gates 999 billion dollars, you just made him happy. It might only take a second for that happiness to end.... but......... geeze, am I the only one that see's this.

When my mom told me I have a strange way at viewing the world a long time ago, I guess she was right.

I only look for the cold hard facts in life. I don't let religion, beliefs or anything like that compromise the truth.

  8. Andrasnm. Prove money can not buy happiness.

Prove that for one second in a single soul's life, that money did not buy them happiness.

Prove it, that is all I ask you.

You telling me if I didn't come to your house and give you a few billion dollars you wouldn't be happy. You are full of shit if you can tell me that.

You might go buy drugs with that money, but you will be happy at least for an amount of time in your life.

  9. So someone create a new thread. "How Long Can Money Keep You Happy?"

There is a real debate. This one is a "can" or "cannot" question.

    Fact is, anything can happen.

This thread was not labled. "Can money make everyone in the world happy?" No. That of course is not true.

But asking the question "Can money make you happy?

The answer is yes. Because with the basic knowledge that ANYTHING can happen at ANY given moment in time.

    The original poster is wrong.

We all know this, some of us just refuse to admit it because we can't handle the truth.

The world can't handle the truth. But this is the truth, and I don't expect very many people at all to respect the truth. But I was brave enough to tell it so I am now happy.

If you don't like me for telling the truth, something others won't say. Like my other threads for sticking up to eSignal. Well, you have emotional issues that need to be resolved, I can not help you there. I do not agree with hiding the truth though. I will always represent the fact.

The presence or absence of money has no correlation to happiness if happiness is defined as contentment with ones self and place in life. Giving money to an unhappy person will make them "happy" for however long it takes for the distraction of whatever the money is doing for them lasts. It is merely an anesthetic for the mind. When the drug wears off they will become the unhappy person they were before the money appeared because they are in reality an unhappy person.

There are happy rich people and happy poor people, and vice versa. Everyone has to play the hand that is dealt them and face the circumstances that life brings head on. To assume that obtaining money will make one truly happy is escapist at best and probably delusional.

Still, I'd rather be miserable and rich than miserable and poor. At least you have more options.
