I think there's a difference between being mentally unhealthy and being unhappy. You can be mentally unhealthy and with access to proper medical care you find happiness. Or you can be totally mentally healthy and you can be unhappy for other reasons. Also, people with more money have much better access to mental health care.

I agree. There are very rich people who feel lonely. And it is much harder for them to find people who would love them not for their money.

I agree. There are beautiful people who feel lonely. And it is much harder for them to find people who would love them not for their looks.

  5. It's settled, then. We should devote ourselves to feeling sorry for beautiful, rich people.

There are funny people who feel lonely. It’s much harder to find people who love them not for their sense of humor.

  7. There are people with great personalities who feel lonely. It's much harder to find people who love them not for their personalities. Let us take a moment to weep for them. :D

I think there are many reasons to feel unhappy. One can't paint it all with the same brush.

Durable "affection" is essentially limited to your offspring. Monogamous/persistent relationships outside the aforementioned are simply the dysfunctional result of codependencies/fear/laziness.

I didn't mean to imply monogamy among your offspring. Just a clarification. Monogamy is a fiction used to sell greeting cards and keep people from jumping out of windows (Gekko).
