Kind of like the Muslim ban while not putting on the list countries actual terrorists came from as well.
The ban was on countries with inadequate procedures for determining if immigrants were radicalized. Seems pretty reasonable to me. Of course, you do have a point. The 9/11 terrorists came from Saudi Arabia, and our own government/Deep State is still blocking attempts to learn about official Saudi support for them. Another big problem is Saudi Arabia funding radical mosques all over our country, but we can't say anything about that because half of the congress is on their payroll.
You'll find it on You tube. But I can paraphrase. I think. He said that when Mexico sends (immigrants, these people, or what ever he called them) they are not sending us their best, they are sending their rapists and their murderers, and then he said, I assume some are good people. I think that is not too far off from what he actually said. But you will find a video of him saying what his actually said on You tube. I am almost 100% certain of that. What we must do is improve our enforcement of immigration law without violating international law that we are a party to. And we must not punish those who have been technically here illegally for many years but are innocent by reason of their age when they were brought hear by their parents. The time for deporting these parents, and those who were then children, is long, long past. These are points of rather elementary logic that I raise. We can not turn the clock of time back to act now as though we had always acted judiciously. Political exigencies made it too uncomfortable to go after the employers of illegal immigrants and keep track of those who had overstayed their visas. We neglected to reform of our immigration laws and enforce them. We have choices. We can act unjustly and let others pay the price for our own failures, or we can recognize our failures and make corrections without unjustly burdening those who had no hand in our bad decisions. The clock of time moves only one way. It is not possible to turn back the hands of time. But we are not stuck with the present bad situation. We can be both just and correct our immigration policies. That's what we should do. Presently the DACA young adults are being unfairly used as bargaining pawns. Their lives are turned upside down with the threat of deportation to a foreign land they have only the most vague recall of. This is wrong! If we don't act justly, and soon, the consequences for our nation will be very bad!
Right, this is the quote I suspected you were referring to. When Mexico sends its people they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you; they’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people. But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. Anyone being honest with themselves would, after reading this quote, understand what Trump meant. He stated that people coming across the border are bringing drugs and crime. They're rapists - not all, but there are rapists and criminals in the bunch. Some are good people. And border guards confirm this is what is happening. Sure, if you wanted to take his comments absolutely literally without any chance of possibility of any other meaning, you could probably fall back on your interpretation. But conversation and nuance is a part of life, and if you were being honest and not sick with TDS then you'd get that. I don't find any fault with most of what you said. Though I'd point out that those being used as "pawns" in the argument are being used as such by both sides of the political spectrum.
Why do you continue to support the "deep state" then? The "deep state," as you call it, just sent 3000 of our troops to help defend Saudi Arabia! This is after The Crown Prince of Saudi Arbia ordered the murder of an American green Card holder and U.S. Journalist!
Trumps distorts reality. What he says typically bears some resemblance to truth, although sometimes it's entirely fiction. His inclusion of truth makes his remarks effective and dangerous. He intentionally plays on peoples perceptions, and uses this technique to create scape goats. It is the classic rhetoric of the demagogue. The distortion comes from the way he phrases his remarks and his clever, but diabolic, use of qualifiers here and there. The result is too commonly a horrible distortion of truth. By definition, with all demagogues these distortions are intentional. It's their means of manipulating people to think as they wish them to and create scapegoats. Data and first hand experience tells the truth: most Mexicans coming to the U.S. are "good people," and some are rapists or involved with the drug trade. Trump's clever manipulation produced a connotation that was the opposite of the truth, and played perfectly to his audiences preconceptions, on which Trump must have been well versed. It's apparent to me that he has retained and put into use what he learned during his study of Hitler's speeches. Trump, as do many philosophers, believes that what is important in politics, and the manipulation of crowds, is perception. We all know from experience that perception is not necessarily the same as truth. The demagogue takes advantage of how difficult it can be to distinguish perception from truth. The goal of demagogues such as Trump is to make that distinction even more difficult by manipulating us to be more emotionally invested in the perception than in the truth. They are aided by our natural instincts, so it is easier to do this then one might suspect.
I think you giving him way too much credit. he is an idiot and has a deplorable base that soaks up on his racist rhetoric. the strategy was conceived by the likes of Bannon and he is just a stooge regurgitating it.
