Obviously the odds are higher one would be “offed” by a legal citizen, seeing as illegals make up only a very small percentage of the population. But crimes committed by people who shouldn’t be here are crimes that are easily prevented by removing the illegal perpetrators.
Far fewer citizens are killed with AR15's than by illegal aliens. Dems want to ban the former and legalize the latter.
He definitely does not have the judgement and experience it takes to be a good president. And he does at times act like "an idiot" in the way we throw that word around to mean someone doing something that seems to us just plain stupid. But isn't there far more going on than meets the eye? For one thing both his 'America First' pledge and his MAGA slogan are borrowed. They are in no way original with Trump. The MAGA slogan and the absurd supply side economics are Reagan's; the America First bit is right out of isolationist campaign rhetoric from the 1930s. But Reagan came in in a recession; Trump came in in very near full employment. We are not as yet seeing much inflation because the excess money left in the private sector is all at the top end and absorbed into Treasuries or being used by corporations to retire equities. (Deficit money takes a more circuitous course in the case of demand side stimulus when the middle class gets to take a turn at spending it after the government has spent it into the economy. This path is more likely to fuel inflation near full employment.) Trump's clearly, and skillfully, applying the techniques of a demagogue. He's far too good at this for me to think he is just a dope winging it. It's so practiced it's become habitual when he speaks to his base. Three years later he is still working out of the same 2016 play book; same rhetoric with adjustments to insert new ad hominems and perjoratives. When he goes off script it's a big hit with his base. He has to avoid going off script when the media's lurking however, and he's not good at that. He could get into hot water with Senate Republicans who have shown, at least until recently, a remarkable ability to hear something other than what was said. He'll only change his tune if he is in danger of losing Senate support, which he must have to survive and go on enriching himself. He has two sources of money. The Federal coffers keep the lights on and the greens watered at Mar a Lago. He is certain to make sure that the General Services Administration gets a bill, but every bit of his really big money is laundered out of autocratic regimes, primarily Russia and Russian associated sources -- Deutsche Bank is the only Western Bank with Offices in Russia! No U.S. bank will loan him money, no doubt because he has accomplished the seemingly impossible by repeatedly squandering vast amounts on the same money-losing businesses. Besides his love for Kim Jong Un and Mother Russia he shows deference to other countries where he has business interests or wants to have, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, for example. He was not bothered when a WAPO journalist was sawed up in a Saudi Consulate and hauled off in a suitcase. Trump investigates such matters himself. He asked whether the Prince had anything to do with the unfortunate dismemberment. Of course not! The Prince was in the Palace, the suitcase was in Turkey. These Trump antics and outcomes must be by design because they are 100% in his self interest. That's a record impossible to achieve by good luck alone. There is nothing here that indicates to me that Trump doesn't know what he's doing. He has taken a wrecking ball to the State Department and U.S. foreign policy and aligned himself with the most vile dictators on the planet. It would be impossible to do that without intending to. He must be expecting a big pay day from his buddy Vladimir.
Short version: Peizoe still has butt-hurt from the last election. I wonder when he is going to get around to condemning the Canadian election because Trudeau took the election with just a third of the popular vote. Maybe he did that earlier and I missed it, but we know he really, really cares about seeing that leaders are elected by the popular vote regardless of what their constitution or laws say. I COULD BE WRONG, IT MAY BE JUST WHEN TRUMP GETS ELECTED.
Trump promised a wall and less illegal immigration. 3 years later there is no wall and more illegal immigration.
I have a preference for parliamentary government. Our 1787 constitution did not travel well into the twenty first century. But who in 1787 could have foreseen that in two and one-quarter centuries corporations would gain the same first amendment free speech rights as people? I wonder, how long will it be before corporations gain fifth amendments rights as well? And congratulations to Mr. Trudeau.
