In 1968, if you asked a leftie college student whether a black man living in the inner city had a right to own a gun to protect himself against the cops, the answer, ten out of ten times, would have been yes. You are right to some degree. In the murders you mention above most of the victims are White people. It does seem that Liberals , being the true racists they are, change opinions only when they see White blood spilled. Their only concern for Black folk is that they get their Liberal vote at every election, without an ID.
The mantra from these hard-core collectivists at the time was "Don't Trust Anyone Over Thirty". Now many of them have finally infiltrated the corners of US gov't, and find themselves becoming purveyors of tyranny and police state, far worse than anything they opposed when they were "long-haired hippie-type pinko fags", as the song relates. According to FBI statistics, an average of 150 people are killed each year in mass killings (4 or more) with guns, According to NCAR (the National Center for Atmospheric Research) about 400 people get hit by lightning each year. You're 2.6 times more likely to get hit by lightning than you are to be "slaughtered" in a theater or school or anywhere else. According to your logic, people went from thinking cops are "pigs" and to be feared all the way to saying cops are the only ones who should have guns all because of, literally, a one-in-a-million event. If that's true, then there's no underestimating the stupidity of the American public.
