Very well put. I've been willing to supspend disbelief up to this point, but after signing up for the new website and poking around on it last night, I've concluded that this whole thing reeks. It's actually giving me a sick feeling to my stomach and I don't quite know why, but I've been looking for a way to unsubscribe myself from this whole mess but can't find a way. Hopefully Doug will drop me after I've been inactive for a while. There's a forum on the site where he wants everyone to share their account balances and monthly returns with the group so Doug can consider whether you can trade his money (although he said you could password protect the spreadsheet he provided if you wish). Yet someone already found a calculation error on the spreadsheet. Who runs their affairs like this? He also wants everyone to post their photos, document their trading experience, and help each other out with their trading. Sorry, but if he actually was looking for traders to fund, he would not be doing this. Trading is not a community experience... it is an intensely personal endeavor and can only be learned through personal experience and sacrifice. No one helped me find my edge and I'm not going to willingly help anyone compete with me at my entry and exit points. I have no idea what his true motive is, but the probability of it being finding multiple traders to fund is so low at this point that I'm no longer willing to trade my time for the small chance it is legit. I'm out.
I too signed up, but my curiosity is being swamped by a growing realization that Doug's Mastermind Team doesn't make much sense. Trading requires thinking independently, and I have no interest in helping people who may be my competitors. I also have no intention of posting my trading record on the Internet. When I first responded to Doug's pitch, I wasn't very clear in my own mind why. I think it was because I saw it as low-risk with an ever-so-slight chance of being legit. I used to think that I would have liked have been a part of Richard Dennis' Turtles experiment, which bears some very slight resemblance to Doug's pitch. Having gotten over the hump with my own trading, and from what I have since learned about the Turtles experience, I am happy with the way things turned out. So far, I have not seen any evidence of scam in Doug's pitch, but there is clear evidence of at least naiveté, and that isn't good either. I may stay long enough to hear the conference call, but I am close to pulling the plug too. I figured out how to unsubscribe from the group. Click 'My page', click 'Settings', click 'Leave Doug Allen Trading Mastermind Team'. [rwk]
This is how one feels when they get duped. I would keep a eye on your bank accounts. There may have been a Trojan Horse bot in that registration process to log your key strokes...
I got the goods and did sign up for Doug Allen and his "I am looking for a trader". But his "process" is involved and takes time and no guarantee he isn't going to go with just one trader and not me. He knows what he is doing. Sounds like it could be for me, but I not spending my time with the endeavor. I only gave an email and a small amount of time. . .so no loss. At least have a website url that says: www.lookingfortraders.com not www.lookingfortrader.com
I don`t know how self reflective people on this thread can be or indeed want to be, but many of you were and still are attracted to what doug is doing. In this sense doug is going about his business correctly ... there is a mug borne every minute. Somewhere inside yourselves there is a small voice whispering the words "free lunch" whilst the far larger voice of reason is shouting "no there isn`t" And yet the small voice wins out. It is little wonder that people find trading far harder than it really is when the large voice of reason is drowned out by the small voice of greed. In a moment of self reflection, it is just possible that you come to realise that doug has done you an enormous favour. All you need to do is put the small voice back in the cupboard, or better still, drown it once and for all, and you will see the world of trading open before your very eyes. How difficult can this be to a reasoning person. regards f9
the problem is that the litle voice has diving gear on, it holds the on and off switch, and can drill holes trough any material.
Yes, it can be a very durable little bugger indeed. The fact that you acknowledge it`s presence means that you can remove it once and for all. regards f9
That's about my take on this. The little voice is part of each of us, part of who we are. Rather than kill it, maybe it would be better to try to understand it. What are its motivations? What is it trying to tell us? I'm not suggesting we let it run our lives, but trying to suppress it can have unintended consequences. I don't know any successfuly traders who are not also students of human nature (including their own).
excellent point rwk. Feel the greed and do the correct thing anyway. One day we wake up and notice something is missing. And then we realise that the fear and greed have disappeared. Eventually they disappear once and for all. regards f9
Not me. I stopped after the first registration process. I'm just interested in one thing: Doug doing what he SAID he was going to DO. 6 days remaining.
