US is a democracy where less than 1% of the population runs everything. See Gecko's speech in "Wall Street": it's as true today as it was then.
More people need to actually vote, and petition their representatives in congress. But, most importantly people need to bestow it upon themselves to be better informed... ...and not just accept the "surface" of an issue, or just accept what some talking-head says.
