Heh-heh....Optional777 - hoops "expert" who couldn't attempt a jump shot but knows all the trivia and has to live vicariously through others to make up for his shortcomings - and he has many.

  7. BTW....Is Kareem Old school????

There id NO ONE playing in the leaugue NOW or BEFORE who could consisitently stop him from scoring.....Shaq would have the best chance of wearing him down but tha's about it...who else is goign to stop him??? BEN WALLACE? Tim Duncan???....another interesting comparison is that while the game got quicker it also got smaller....forwards may be taller then ever before...but there are NO CENTERS LEFT....SHAQ? Yao? then who? Ben Wallace is just Wes Unseld or paul Silas reincarnated....where are the 7 footers who bang? Optional, you know who would have dominated today???? ARtis Gilmore...7'1 250 and all muscle...he avg around 2o per game.....Jack Sikma would have lit them up too especially with the 3 point line so close......you know who woud have a ball? Elvin hayes....nobody except for Ben and Shaq would be able to bang with him today..he'd bakc these little forwards down and make them cry.

  8. Giving him a taste of his own medicine is MY job!

Regarding old school players playing today: most of 'em would get eaten alive.

The problems Jason Williams has with turnovers and inconsistency would plague the Pistol were he playing today with this quicker and more athletic bunch. He'd still be good, but he wouldn't dominate.

Bernard King I think would still do well today, but maybe he's too young to be considered "old school"?

  9. Bernard's last productive season was 82' if i recall....I loved Bernard...what a first step.......To everyone else, can we keep this thread as a sanctum where we talk sports? we can argue all we want under one of the war threads but I love coming in here and talking sports with the guys....it's one thing to say somebody is crazy or this or that but lets keep at least his thread on the purely sport line.......agreed?

  10. the bottom-line is the game has changed.

and you have to be a better player now than you had to be back then to make it to the pros !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
