I think Eagles are an endangered species. Check it our on the net.

Unborn human fetuses, like a tumor in your body, contain human DNA. They are both "human." Your tumor is unlikely to undergo metamorphosis into the next baby Einstein, or even the next baby Ron Desantis. And thank god for that! I prefer to think of DeSantis as having arisen from a growth on another placental Mammal, the Armadillo.

It's between a woman and her doctor with possibly some opinion from the prospective father. The doctor will be aware of the legalities involved and when the mother or potential baby are subject to dangerous or impossible situations. Many religious groups have a poor track record concerning women and their abortion beliefs are accompanied by other problematic beliefs. Health and safety of the mother is often unimportant to them.

For example, what I read is that in Texas many of the political and religious leaders pushing for more restrictive abortion laws have been actively against numerous women's programs. For instance, sex education in schools, planned parenthood, funding to help young mothers in need. They think ancient scripture will guide them.

I take it from your post that unborn eagles inside the egg are part of an endangered species and need protection?

I view an individual life - born, outside the womb or still inside growing, waiting that moment, an endangered soul worth more than that of an eagle.

Your dna is in the hair and skin cells that fall from your body, your spit, and like the tumor you so callously referenced, but none have a heartbeat like a 6 week old fetus/baby.

As if your team is not terrified the legal and philosophical questions are going to be revisited by a less liberal court. These issues may be far from settled.

Nothing irrational about avoiding the use of euphemisms.

You were one conflating science and religion to hide the real issue.

Do moms have the right to kill their babies and if so til what age.

I say since it's not in the constitution it should be left up to the states.

This is not something you will easily accept though it is true if you break an Eagle egg before a certain point in the development of the fertilized egg, you are not killing and Eagle. If you abort a fertilized human egg before a certain point in it' development you are not killing a baby. In both cases you are arresting further development before either an Eagle or a baby results. In the case of the Eagle you are doing harm as the species is endangered. I the case of the developing fetus you are doing good, you are preventing an unwanted child from coming into the world. The Eagle is wanted the child is not!

My response to Wallet above continued...

You can not succeed in getting what you wish for. But in trying you can cause great harm.
You will not succeed in stopping abortions. The wealthy will have little trouble finding them; the indigent will have great difficulty. Some of the indigent will harm themselves in attempts to abort their pregnancies; others will end up giving birth to unwanted babies. In some cases both mother and child will be harmed, with harmful repercussions lasting the rest of their lives.

I know you don't want to be cruel, but please think about what you are advocating. You can not achieve what you think you want in any case, but you can help to make a lot of people miserable and cause great harm.

The abortion debate reminds me a little of the trolley problem.

Jemmy, nice try, but I'm afraid your 151 years to late. A women's "qualified" right to terminate her own pregnancy is already in the Constitution. It's masquerading as the Due Process Clause of the 14 Amendment! This clause protects against the States intrusion on the right of privacy, including a women's "qualified" right to terminate her pregnancy. According to the Court that is.. [see Roe, et al. v Wade] Read it and weep!

Sorry jem, too bad you weren't around 151 years ago when you might have been able to head this thing off "at the pass"* as they say. Too late now! It's already in the Constitution.

Which Law School did you attend anyway? Liberty University Law School? :D

Under his logic that a fetus is tumor-like, You would have to conclude that Denmark has found a cure to Downs syndrome

in 2004, Denmark became one of the first countries in the world to offer prenatal Down syndrome screening to every pregnant woman, regardless of age or other risk factors. Nearly all expecting mothers choose to take the test; of those who get a Down syndrome diagnosis, more than 95 percent choose to abort.

Denmark is not on its surface particularly hostile to disability. People with Down syndrome are entitled to health care, education, even money for the special shoes that fit their wider, more flexible feet. If you ask Danes about the syndrome, they’re likely to bring up Morten and Peter, two friends with Down syndrome who starred in popular TV programs where they cracked jokes and dissected soccer games. Yet a gulf seems to separate the publicly expressed attitudes and private decisions. Since universal screening was introduced, the number of children born with Down syndrome has fallen sharply. In 2019, only 18 were born in the entire country. (About 6,000 children with Down syndrome are born in the U.S. each year.)
