https://www.josbank.com/sportcoat-vs-blazer-vs-suit-jacket The sportcoat, the least formal of the trio, is derived from old tweed coats that were traditionally worn when hunting or participating in other "sporting" activities. A bit sturdier than the blazer and suit jacket, a sportscoat retains aspects influenced by its rustic predecessor, even in contemporary fashion. Also, sportcoats are frequently patterned and feature more eye-catching designs. Lastly, the suit jacket, the dressiest of the three, is made from finer wool - with a few summer versions made from cotton or linen - and is accompanied by matching pants. Even if the suit jacket is sold as a suit separate, it's still intended to be purchased and worn with the accompanying pants.
Sooo...why is it what Trump is wearing is unacceptable according to Joseph A. Bank and Tony Stark/Ak Forty Seven? And what in the picture tells you that he is wearing a suit jacket and not a sport coat under the narrow definitions you are posting? Edit: Plenty of navy sport coats and blazers on the JosABank site that look just like the one Trump is wearing. Not that he'd buy at that piece of shit store, of course (who would??)
https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/int...-trump-wearing-mismatched-suit-003612357.html The internet is dragging President Trump for wearing a mismatched suit Elise Solé September 13, 2017 President Trump has committed the ultimate style crime: wearing a mismatched suit. The offense occurred Wednesday during a meeting with Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., during which the two politicians discussed race relations in the wake of the Charlottesville protests and comments the president made in August, which included the remark “I think there’s blame on both sides.” While Sarah Sanders said in a post-meeting press conference that the meeting was “very productive,” the president received an “F” grade from Twitter on his outfit, composed of a navy blue jacket, a bright blue tie, and black slacks. Upstaging Trump’s black-and-blue error: Scott’s fuchsia socks with bright blue polka dots, which social media called “amazing” and “A+.” How Do You Fashion, tells Yahoo Style. “There are exceptions — for example, a sports jacket with suit pants — but it’s a very tricky look to pull off.”" So is it ever OK for a man to mix and match formal wear? “I wouldn’t advise wearing a mismatched suit,” Cristina Pearlstein, stylist and founder of How Do You Fashion, tells Yahoo Style. “There are exceptions — for example, a sports jacket with suit pants — but it’s a very tricky look to pull off.” In the case of Trump, “He looks like he got dressed in the dark,” she says, adding that the look was likely accidental. The dead giveaway: Trump’s tie. “A bright blue tie matches with a white dress shirt and a navy suit,” says Pearlstein. “It seems as though the president simply grabbed a pair of black pants, believing they were blue.” She adds, “If a stylist dressed the president, they should be fired.”
http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-suit-mistake-2017-9 Trump just committed the single most unforgivable men's suiting sin Dennis Green Sep. 13, 2017, 5:49 PM On Wednesday, during a meeting with Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, President Donald Trump did the unthinkable: He wore black pants with a navy blazer. Cue the sirens. Now, Trump is no stranger to poor dress. The man tapes his tie together with Scotch tape and wears his tie too long, and most of his suits are just begging to be tailored. But he's never gone this far before. While it should go without saying, wearing a mismatched suit is bad. Though wearing blue and black together used to be more vilified than it is now, suits still can't be worn as separates. Even dark navy colors are super obvious when paired with black. On a suit, the only option is to wear the two pieces the way they were designed to be worn: together. Wearing them separately makes them both look like orphans, and it distracts the eye. I can't believe I even had to spend this many paragraphs explaining it. It's so evident. It's possible that Trump got dressed in a hurry and couldn't find his black jacket so just grabbed his navy. It's possible that it was an honest mistake and that he just didn't realize before he walked out to his meeting that he had picked up the wrong jacket. It's also possible that he didn't even know it was a mistake. After all, a man who spends that much time on his hair would seem unlikely to knowingly make such a mistake. For a man who has been in the public eye and wearing suits for decades, the mistake is unforgivable.
Correct. If Blue and Black don 't go together, then what does? Phony Snark likely wearing tie dye shirt with chartreuse sweat pants as we speak. (Mind the urine stain).
Even Fox and Roger Stone knows what a suit jacket is. http://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/20...ds-to-speculation-about-fashion-faux-pas.html Style + Beauty President Trump's mismatched suit leads to speculation about fashion faux pas Published September 14, 2017 Fox News
Oh noes! Trump received an "F" grade from Twitter! So you have nothing other than people who hate Trump in the media and on Twitter as backup for anything about how he was out of line? Is this from the same folks that were all over Melania for wearing heels in Texas? I understand that your sole experience in men's fashion comes from clip-on ties and your walmart badge, but you really need to branch out beyond the "Buy 2 Suits Get One Free!!" lines.
That is not what Trump was wearing. You are clearly clueless on this subject but keep going out dressed like Trump did yesterday if you like it.
