LOL!!! Walmart? The same walmart who's getting nailed for 'human rights' and discrimination lawsuits? Yay for diversity! Boy the good times just never end on the diversity train... Yes of course all the fortune 500s have 'diverse' staff. There's this little thing called affirmative action, whereby they are in violation of federal law if they don't demonstrate that they discriminate against white people to a sufficient degree, and will get nailed to the wall if they fail to comply. This increases the cost of doing business by making operations less efficient by hiring based on race discrimination policies rather than on ability and qualifications. Ultimately the consumer pays because of higher production and labor costs. The tax payer also pays the billions that are spent every year enforcing these racial laws. In any case, thanks for raising those examples.
I thought liberals despised Walmart? I guess they're willing to cozy up to them when it suits their agenda.
Diversity: GEâs Formula for Success General Electric Co., one of the original 12 companies listed on the Dow Jones Industrial Average when the index was formed in 1896 and often cited as the countryâs most admired company, implemented an aggressive diversity strategy under former CEO Jack Welch that included employee networks, regular planning forums, formal mentoring and recruiting at high schools and colleges popular with minorities. In September 2002, the Fairfield, Conn., technology and services conglomerate appointed its first chief diversity officer, Deborah Elam. In 2000, in the waning days of Welchâs 20-year tenure as CEO, women, minorities and non-U.S. citizens made up 22 percent of GE's officers and 29 percent of its senior executives. By 2005, those numbers had increased to 34 percent and 40 percent, respectively. As we celebrate Black History Month in 2010, both figures surpass 46 percent. Arriving at those figures wasnât always easy. Diversity training by itself is not enough, says Elam. âYouâve got to have accountability at the top,â she says. Others agree. âDiversity officers need to get demonstrative support from the CEO or else she wonât be successful,â says Steven Thorne, a 35-year African-American GE veteran who is currently vice president for global staffing. Nurturing the corporate careers of African-Americans requires a substantial commitment of time, staff and money. African-American employees must be persuaded that company executives welcome and appreciate their views, skills and other contributions. At GE, Welch showed his commitment in ways big and small, say those who worked for him and non-employees who knew him well. He cared about his employees and energized all of them regardless of their race or gender and in return, they worked harder for the companyâs overall success, they say. âI do strongly believe that weâve got to give people more equal opportunity. Weâve got to do everything we can to break down the barriers," he told Janet Lowe, author of Jack Welch Speaks (Wiley, 1998) and Welch: An American Icon (Wiley, 2001). âI meet twice a year with the African American Forum. Generally speaking, it's an African American issue in terms of movement, supply and opportunity,â he said.
Why do you feel the need to repeatedly lie about what I said? I never said that Atlanta has more fortune 500s that CA and you know that. I said that ATL has more F500s than any place in CA. Further, those RE markets in cali are all pretty non-diverse markets. Also, overpriced real estate isn't my idea of a good feature... The whites who want to insulate themselves have to pay a premium to live where they feel comfortable, because all the 'diversity' keeps colonizing more and more of the state communities built by white people. So, the whItes who want to stay safe, comfortable, and have decent schools have to fork over ungodly amounts. This has alot to do with why companies are leaving Cali in droves. For some reason, people are surprised that when you import vast hordes of 3rd world Latin Americans, it looks more and more like a 3rd world Latin American dump. It's ironic to me that this phenomenon is described as 'immigration'. In a sane world they would call it what it is: colonization... As I'm sure you're aware, the other lie you've told in this post is that I've asked 'millions of questions'. Of course you know that I've asked one question: what tangible, objectively beneficial effects does diversity create? That's been the only question, over and over, that you've ignored and refused to answer. I also asked you to respond to or acknowledge my points, like any ethical, fair debater with any decency would do..
LOL!!! Formula for success? Is this the same GE that just canned their American employees and shipped all the jobs to china, right after receiving a 150 billion dollar bailout? LMAO! Wow, is diversity how you get that kind of 'success'? Well the diversity tree just never stops giving does it? LOL! Funny that sort of 'success'seems to follow the diversity wherever it goes.... Look at what I've been missing!! GEs formula for success- don't get nailed by the federal race law Gestapo so you don't get shut down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action#Opposition LOL!!! GEs formula for success
Jack Welch implemented an aggressive diversity strategy before Obama took office and the results speak for themselves. In 1980, the year before Welch became CEO, GE recorded revenues of roughly $26.8 billion. In 2000, the year before he left, the revenues increased to nearly $130 billion. When Jack Welch left GE, the company had gone from a market value of $14 billion to one of more than $410 billion at the end of 2004, making it the most valuable and largest company in the world.
