Millions made, much of the world seen, what now?

  1. Indeed good ideas, I have been drawn to several galleries on holidays in the past week.:)

I have worked Africa in anti-poaching so I have had a lot of quiet time in nature, it is great. A lot is made about learning to listen to your breathing and heartbeat (literally) however there is something to it's simplicity. After a while in isolation with only the wind through grass and insects does a power of good.
Knowing where the quiet place in your head is and how to reach it under stress is a life saver sometimes. I recon it helps me trade as I can calm myself better than most though I mostly do intraday trades on Futures.

I may do something like the Camino, I have been thinking about the Appalachian trail or similar since I read Bill Bryson's book years back. The Camino in Spain is a little noisy, I know a few who did it and it is a great first walk as no pack required due to the very frequent amenities.

Right now I am enjoying my holidays and doing a lot more than I have done since my 30s.

Great, hope you will find some. How interesting and dangerous should be your experience in Africa, you certainly have learned also o wait, which is must for successful trading, yes? There are magnificent practices made in groups. like firework, tantra etc. After my coma experience brought me to longing for this door, once opened and then slowly started to disappear. Since I met the book "The courage" by Osho. he was my teacher for two years, teacher of silence and inner light, lol, only later I discovered him to be called the guru of rich and of sex, which he laughed over. The first time we experience many people together, exited without alcohol or drugs, happy independently of how rich or poor one, it was at the festival in Italy http://www.oshoexperience.it/oshofestival/index_en.html. Enjoy your holidays!

I very much enjoyed the Inca Trail as a hike, but sadly Machu Picchu is accessible to anyone by a bus and train and as a result it's jam packed with entitled tourists (mostly fellow Americans) and nothing spiritual about it. Camino de Santiago, definitely on my list. Have you done it? Would love to hear that it's not been over commercialized after The Way.

  7. Well just to update on the mini mystery of my very strong response to a small amount of hormone and supplement cocktail. Mini-mystery solved.

In brief the test showed I was losing potassium rapidly and was chronically deficient. The injected serum did not contain much of this however it did something to stop the loss perhaps.I had a short boost to near normal levels and this made me feel way better.

After I quit smoking (started early 30s) I had been drinking way too much CocaCola (sugar not diet) for nearly three years, 1-2 liters a day often. I was getting worrying heart arrhythmia sometimes. I went to a cardiologist and he said I had too much salt is all... Have to talk to him :)

Well it seems that not only do I have sub-normal levels of potassium I am not seemingly able to build a level higher than barely adequate. This should improve in time, it is only around four months since I quit the Cola habit.

Simple explanation in the end. It explains the arrhythmia and the feeling of being pretty slow minded sometimes. Not just age. I have stopped taking the hormone cocktail for now and will work on recovering my potassium levels to normal.

    "
A 31-year old woman's heart problems and fainting might have had something to do with the fact that she drank only soda for about half her life, according to a report of her case.

The woman, who lives in Monaco, a small country near southern France, was brought to a hospital after she fainted. A blood test showed she had severely low potassium levels. And a test of her heart's electrical activity revealed she had a condition called long QT syndrome, which can cause erratic heart beats.

The woman did not have a family history of heart or hormone problems. But she told her doctors that, since the age of 15, she had not drunk any water — soda (specifically cola) was the only liquid she consumed. She drank about 2 liters (2 quarts) of cola daily, she said.

After abstaining from soda for just one week, the woman's potassium levels and heart electrical activity returned to normal.

Drinking too much cola may cause excess water to enter the bowels, which in turn leads to diarrhea, and loss of potassium, the researchers said. High amounts of caffeine can also increase urine production and decrease potassium reabsorption, the researchers said. Potassium plays a role in helping a person's heartbeat, and low levels of potassium may cause heart rhythm problems.

After searching for other similar cases, the researchers found six reports of excessive cola consumption that were thought to be related to adverse medical problems, including heart rhythm problems.

"One of the take-home messages is that cardiologists need to be aware of the connection between cola consumption and potassium loss, and should ask patients found to have QT prolongation about beverage habits," said study researcher Dr. Naima Zarqane, of Princess Grace Hospital Centre in Monaco.

Future studies should examine whether those who drink cola excessively have lower potassium levels than people who don't drink cola, the researchers said.

Excessive soda consumption can also lead to weight gain, which is a risk factor for heart disease, the researchers said.

The case report was presented this week at the European Heart Rhythm Association meeting in Athens, Greece. It has not been published in a peer-reviewed journal."

I used to love Coke or Pepsi but with diabetes problems have had to watch the diet.
The Doc reckons diet coke or pepsi is just fine.
I have 1 glass a day with a splash of wine. Tastes great. Why not give it a try ?

How is the trading going ?

  10. I went cold turkey on it and don't plan to go back. Just paid a lot to the dentist for damage only in my lower teeth :) The issue is how such sodas accelerate the flushing of potassium. I was taking Centrum Advance, have been for two years and it helped but it could not keep up with the loss.

Everything in moderation is fine as you say. I had gone overboard because the warm climate here (Colombia) was new to me.
