  1. Right, it's their choice.... LOL. I knew I couldn't say it without laughing.

Look, I agree, I'm just saying that most Muslims wouldn't agree, as long as they support Sharia, and that is simply a fact that the majority of Muslims do support Sharia.

And I also absolutely agree that they shouldn't have practises like that, that personal freedom is one of the most important things in the world, I personally couldn't disagree stronger about some of the things that go in the name of pretty much everything inventive minds can come up with under the sun, but I also believe my going down there or anywhere and preaching to them would probably be more contraproductive than productive.

But, its like I also said, you'd be hard pressed to find a European who didn't find US practises about the death penalty where many inoccent people are killed but that doesn't in the very slightest serve as a deterrent, or about US health care where so many Americans don't have that, equally barbaric.

  3. So if your country voted to imprison all people named Nick, you would be OK with it?

  4. This is turning into a debate over whether one culture can be inferior or superior relative to another.

I think the answer is yes, NOT because I am an elitist (no pun intended regarding the website), but rather because I believe in absolute truth. Absolute truth entails objective standards. Objective standards means there is a measuring stick and that some cultures measure up to them better than others.

I believe that Islam AS IT IS PRACTICED in many areas of the world- I say that in all caps because Osama Bin Laden's Islam is very different than my neighbor's- is anti-free thought, anti-free expression, close minded, cruel, and degrading to women.

Not trying to start a fistfight, just calling 'em like I see 'em here. The post modernist idea that I'm ok you're ok and we should all respect each other's harmless ideas just doesn't work in a real world with real objective truth and real consequences for actions.

    No, see my previous answer:

Again, I personally agree, but us telling em that ain't gonna change it, until they decide for themselves that there are better ways to live.

  8. In a lot of these places you can't preach to them even if you wanted to without risk of torture, imprisonment or death.

A culture that hates free speech has something to hide.

And if the islam we constantly see and hear about every day is not the true Islam, then those who practice the true and good Islam should stand up and fight and take back their religion's name.

  9. This is true, the problem is chicken and egg.

A working capitalist system can't be created out of thin air, it has to be built on a bedrock of values and cultural support. The USA is the most successful country in the world not because the soil is better or the people are smarter but only because of the culture and values it began with 200 years ago.

And I think its fair to say that precious few problems were ever solved simply by telling people anything. Always action, never words.

  10. But you said "Let the people decide." That's inconsistent with personal freedom.

As far as the US death penalty and health care, you're sadly misinformed. Please state your sources that show that "many innocent people are killed" or that "so many" Americans don't have health care. I bet you can't because it's a lie. :D
