Midnight rally

  1. Midnight rally keeps these sentiment indicators in check. Now if we opened down or flat and then rallied all day into the close, my goodness that would set off alarm bells. No folks the midnight rally gang will make sure things stay in a nice balance.

  3. Wonder what the Regular Trading Hours volatility is vs the overnight session.

Almost seems like the big move happens overnight, you get some continuation in the morning and the rest of the day is spent dampening and absorbing the overnight energy.

  5. Have you ever watched on a price ladder the overnight session on say YM? their is hardly any energy exerted getting it up, it almost just floats up on little one lots hitting the offer. Sometimes the spread can be 10 points. All I know is its profitable.

You are right. All the stock indexes are like that. The amount of volume that drives the thing up (even in the naz and the spoo) is a joke.

    You think it is manipulation?

I will post an interesting quote for you guys. I have been aroun along time and have seen this quote ONLY RECENTLY. Check out the Fed's DIRECT QUOTE.

In a 1989 Wall Street Journal article, then Federal Reserve board member Robert Heller even suggested a market intervention strategy: “Instead of flooding the entire economy with liquidity, and thereby increasing the danger of inflation, the Fed could support the stock market directly by buying market averages in the futures market, thus stabilizing the market as a whole.”

    check out Executive Order 12631

I'm not saying the Govt is manipulating things. Just showing something you may not have seen before.

  7. I tell ya its getting close to being equal I would bet. Throw out the few outlier extreme range days...

There was actually a time not that long ago when there was a rather tradeable edge just keying off of the DAX and Eurostoxx a few hours a night. One of the indicies would kind of just assume a leading laggard relationship in the middle of the night and the price action was pretty clean.

  8. With INTC on deck after the close, you just know these futures will get vaulted straight up thru resistance at 10670 on YM. Opps looks like they might try and take it out before INTC reports.
