A revolt is brewing in the middle class At 2:00 A.M. on the last day of legislative session before their summer vacation the Pa. state legislature voted themselve a 16% to 54% pay hike. This is on top of their yearly cost of living increases and extremely generous benefits and perks. Prior to that vote no one had ever paid any attention to state level politics. A firestorm of protest has erupted for the past two months here and does not appear to be letting up . Grassroots organizations are forming and are planning to remove every incumbent from office . This is just one of those grassroots efforts . http://www.pacleansweep.com/main.html
Parts of downtown Portland look like a headshop staffed by every teenage runaway in the country. They espouse sharing everything with mankind, while making it their life's work to give back as little as possible themselves. Pretty. You know what they say - if you scatter bird feed you are going to get pigeons. I've wanted Portland to secede for many years, unfortunately, it now looks like they're not gonna make it. Maybe next year. They can count on my donation.
Problem is the overhead our bloodsucking government creates. We need to get rid of it by privatizing anything we really need, which is very little. The irony is that it's the socialists democrats that complain the most about the cost of living yet it's the cost of government that holds us down the most and the socialist want more and more of it. Just think how cheap things would be if we reduced taxes to a fifth of what they are now. NO way we should spend $3 trillion a year on federal, state, local government. How much would we spend on government if GE was running the show?? John
Can we please stop talking about Portland already? Portland is filled with a bunch of pot smoking hippy socialists who demand the government deliver their brownies to them on a government silver platter. Then they wonder why their economy sucks ass.
i posted this before "cashing in on american dream, how to retire at 35", by terhortz "your money or your life" by joe dominquez most people have too much debt and no savings or error. when trouble hits, they take on debt to maintain lifestyle rather than cutting back... here's an idea, cut back now, save & invest and a few years down the road tell everyone else to kiss your fanny.
just a thought... why don't you guys privatize your military for instance... am not saying you really NEED it but, just so its clearer how much of it you really need perhaps... 'zdat a good idea? or, say petro-military-arms dealer complex for instance, but thats step 2 i mean, if even the mob can do it...
ooopppsss... did i say sthg wrong? ok forget about it, just kidding... of course the kids etc are always a problem and the world would be so much easier without them but right now i am more interested in how to get the irresponsible corporate kids back in line, if u see my drift... e.g. what d'u guys think of stuff like: http://www.coopamerica.org/programs/boycotts/ http://www.coopamerica.org/programs/rs/ is this effective? useful? or shld these guys be sent the military... joke, joke... peace
If anything is brewing, it is certainly not in the middle class. They are too busy sipping $5 Starbucks coffee and taking their kids to soccer practice. In the history of USA the middle class never revolted, and they won't anytime soon. Both the Revolutionary war and the War between the States were started by the rich and not by the middle class.... Most Americans don't see what's going on and too easily manipulated. (terror threats, playing one class/ethnicity against the other, etc.) They still have bread, and there is always circus going on on TV....
