There's a reason why CME and ICE are so profitable. It's the exchange fees that they charge Brokers, who pass it along to the clients or absorb the cost if they run some type of subscription program or something.
I agree with you that this new micro should have been given a new symbol. It is very easy to overlook the multiplier and thus select the wrong contract to trade. But it is not the first time that IB re-uses an existing symbol and changes the multiplier. They have done the same with silver (SI) and the German DAX. IB is rather inconsistent in their naming convention. For example: with S&P500 (ES, MES), NASDAQ (NQ, MNQ), DJI30 and several FX currencies (e.g. 6E, M6E) have they created separate symbols for the micro contracts.
Incidentally the risk adjusted cost of trading BRR0.1 is still very competitive, since the vol is so high. GAT
Symbols are there to avoid confusion. So, if you are asking about something, make sure that you share the symbol so that it gets easier to understand.
