I read his autobiography in college. The deceptively named The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I took three things away from it. 1) His real name was Malcolm Little. 2) If you want to protect your house at night while you're away, don't leave a living room light on, leave a bathroom light on. Thieves know a living room light on at 3 am is just a ruse, but a bathroom light can be on for good reason at any time of night. 3) He said, "in any operation someone has to be in charge. If the operation is only you then you need to be in charge of yourself".
I've confronted many of the "blame whitey" types with not only this statement message by Malcolm but with other statements Malcolm made about the Democratic party and they try to shrug those statements off. Either that or they'll claim that the parties switched around the 60's, even though every Dixiecrat who supposedly became a Republican retired a Democrat.....

Why? BECAUSE THEY DID THE SAME THINGS SUCCESSFUL WHITES DID!... stayed out of gangs, resisted the temptation to "just hang out and get by while collecting a government check", went to school, learned a little math (which teaches you to think and solve problems), learned English and how to communicate well. You want to "make it" in America, black or white?.... THAT'S what you do! And the blacks... STUPID, STUPID BLACKS... they have the way PAVED for them with Affirmative Action laws/policies.... yet they don't make the effort to take advantage of them. How can you feel sorry for someone who has opportunities handed to them yet they don't bother to take advantage.. and choose to piss-and-moan, "life ain't fair", my station in life is "somebody else's fault"?
